18 And the chief priests and the scribes heard it. And they were seeking how they might destroy Him. For they were fearing Him, for the whole crowd was astounded at His teaching. 19 And when it became evening, they were going outside of the city.

New International Version
18 The chief priests and the teachers of the law heard this and began looking for a way to kill him, for they feared him,(A) because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching.(B)
19 When evening came, Jesus and his disciples[a] went out of the city.(C)
20 In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots.
