4 Entonces Jesús fue llevado por el Espíritu al desierto, para ser tentado por el diablo.(A) 2 Y después de haber ayunado cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, tuvo hambre. 3 Y vino a él el tentador, y le dijo: Si eres Hijo de Dios, di que estas piedras se conviertan en pan. 4 Él respondió y dijo: Escrito está: No solo de pan vivirá el hombre, sino de toda palabra que sale de la boca de Dios.(B) 5 Entonces el diablo le llevó a la santa ciudad, y le puso sobre el pináculo del templo, 6 y le dijo: Si eres Hijo de Dios, échate abajo; porque escrito está:
A sus ángeles mandará acerca de ti,(C)
y,
En sus manos te sostendrán,
Para que no tropieces con tu pie en piedra.(D)
7 Jesús le dijo: Escrito está también: No tentarás al Señor tu Dios.(E) 8 Otra vez le llevó el diablo a un monte muy alto, y le mostró todos los reinos del mundo y la gloria de ellos, 9 y le dijo: Todo esto te daré, si postrado me adorares. 10 Entonces Jesús le dijo: Vete, Satanás, porque escrito está: Al Señor tu Dios adorarás, y a él sólo servirás.(F) 11 El diablo entonces le dejó; y he aquí vinieron ángeles y le servían.

4 (A)Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness (B)to be tempted by the devil. 2 And after He had (C)fasted for forty days and forty nights, He [a]then became hungry. 3 And (D)the tempter came and said to Him, “If You are the (E)Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” 4 But He answered and said, “It is written: ‘(F)Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes out of the mouth of God.’”
5 Then the devil *took Him along into (G)the holy city and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 and he *said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written:
‘(H)He will give His angels orders concerning You’;
and
‘On their hands they will lift You up,
So that You do not strike Your foot against a stone.’”
7 Jesus said to him, “[b]On the other hand, it is written: ‘(I)You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’”
8 (J)Again, the devil *took Him along to a very high mountain and *showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory; 9 and he said to Him, “(K)All these things I will give You, if You fall down and [c]worship me.” 10 Then Jesus *said to him, “Go away, Satan! For it is written: ‘(L)You shall worship the Lord your God, and [d]serve Him only.’” 11 Then the devil *left Him; and behold, (M)angels came and began to serve Him.

4 Jesús, lleno del Espíritu Santo, volvió del Jordán, y fue llevado por el Espíritu al desierto 2 por cuarenta días, y era tentado por el diablo. 4 (A)Now Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, (B)returned from the Jordan and was led around [a]by the Spirit in the wilderness 2 for (C)forty days, being tempted by the devil. And He ate nothing during those days, and when they had ended, He was hungry. 3 And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.” 4 And Jesus answered him, “It is written: ‘(D)Man shall not live on bread alone.’”
5 (E)And he led Him up and showed Him all the kingdoms of [b](F)the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said to Him, “I will give You all this domain and [c]its glory, (G)for it has been handed over to me, and I give it to whomever I want. 7 Therefore if You [d]worship before me, it shall all be Yours.” 8 Jesus replied to him, “It is written: ‘(H)You shall worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.’”
9 (I)And he brought Him into Jerusalem and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here; 10 for it is written:

13 And so when the devil had finished every temptation, he left Him until an opportune time.
Jesus’ Public Ministry
14 And (M)Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and (N)news about Him spread through all the surrounding region. 15 And He began (O)teaching in their synagogues and was praised by all.

19 Este es el testimonio de Juan, cuando los judíos enviaron de Jerusalén sacerdotes y levitas para que le preguntasen: ¿Tú, quién eres? 20 Confesó, y no negó, sino confesó: Yo no soy el Cristo. 21 Y le preguntaron: ¿Qué pues? ¿Eres tú Elías?(A) Dijo: No soy. ¿Eres tú el profeta?(B) Y respondió: No. 22 Le dijeron: ¿Pues quién eres? para que demos respuesta a los que nos enviaron. ¿Qué dices de ti mismo? 23 Dijo: Yo soy la voz de uno que clama en el desierto: Enderezad el camino del Señor, como dijo el profeta Isaías.(C)
24 Y los que habían sido enviados eran de los fariseos. 25 Y le preguntaron, y le dijeron: ¿Por qué, pues, bautizas, si tú no eres el Cristo, ni Elías, ni el profeta? 26 Juan les respondió diciendo: Yo bautizo con agua; mas en medio de vosotros está uno a quien vosotros no conocéis. 27 Este es el que viene después de mí, el que es antes de mí, del cual yo no soy digno de desatar la correa del calzado. 28 Estas cosas sucedieron en Betábara, al otro lado del Jordán, donde Juan estaba bautizando.
El Cordero de Dios
29 El siguiente día vio Juan a Jesús que venía a él, y dijo: He aquí el Cordero de Dios, que quita el pecado del mundo. 30 Este es aquel de quien yo dije: Después de mí viene un varón, el cual es antes de mí; porque era primero que yo. 31 Y yo no le conocía; mas para que fuese manifestado a Israel, por esto vine yo bautizando con agua. 32 También dio Juan testimonio, diciendo: Vi al Espíritu que descendía del cielo como paloma, y permaneció sobre él. 33 Y yo no le conocía; pero el que me envió a bautizar con agua, aquel me dijo: Sobre quien veas descender el Espíritu y que permanece sobre él, ese es el que bautiza con el Espíritu Santo. 34 Y yo le vi, y he dado testimonio de que este es el Hijo de Dios.
Los primeros discípulos
35 El siguiente día otra vez estaba Juan, y dos de sus discípulos. 36 Y mirando a Jesús que andaba por allí, dijo: He aquí el Cordero de Dios. 37 Le oyeron hablar los dos discípulos, y siguieron a Jesús. 38 Y volviéndose Jesús, y viendo que le seguían, les dijo: ¿Qué buscáis? Ellos le dijeron: Rabí (que traducido es, Maestro), ¿dónde moras? 39 Les dijo: Venid y ved. Fueron, y vieron donde moraba, y se quedaron con él aquel día; porque era como la hora décima. 40 Andrés, hermano de Simón Pedro, era uno de los dos que habían oído a Juan, y habían seguido a Jesús. 41 Este halló primero a su hermano Simón, y le dijo: Hemos hallado al Mesías (que traducido es, el Cristo). 42 Y le trajo a Jesús. Y mirándole Jesús, dijo: Tú eres Simón, hijo de Jonás; tú serás llamado Cefas[a] (que quiere decir, Pedro[b]).
Jesús llama a Felipe y a Natanael
43 El siguiente día quiso Jesús ir a Galilea, y halló a Felipe, y le dijo: Sígueme. 44 Y Felipe era de Betsaida, la ciudad de Andrés y Pedro. 45 Felipe halló a Natanael, y le dijo: Hemos hallado a aquel de quien escribió Moisés en la ley, así como los profetas: a Jesús, el hijo de José, de Nazaret. 46 Natanael le dijo: ¿De Nazaret puede salir algo de bueno? Le dijo Felipe: Ven y ve. 47 Cuando Jesús vio a Natanael que se le acercaba, dijo de él: He aquí un verdadero israelita, en quien no hay engaño. 48 Le dijo Natanael: ¿De dónde me conoces? Respondió Jesús y le dijo: Antes que Felipe te llamara, cuando estabas debajo de la higuera, te vi. 49 Respondió Natanael y le dijo: Rabí, tú eres el Hijo de Dios; tú eres el Rey de Israel. 50 Respondió Jesús y le dijo: ¿Porque te dije: Te vi debajo de la higuera, crees? Cosas mayores que estas verás. 51 Y le dijo: De cierto, de cierto os digo: De aquí en adelante veréis el cielo abierto, y a los ángeles de Dios que suben y descienden(D) sobre el Hijo del Hombre.
Las bodas de Caná
2 Al tercer día se hicieron unas bodas en Caná de Galilea; y estaba allí la madre de Jesús. 2 Y fueron también invitados a las bodas Jesús y sus discípulos. 3 Y faltando el vino, la madre de Jesús le dijo: No tienen vino. 4 Jesús le dijo: ¿Qué tienes conmigo, mujer? Aún no ha venido mi hora. 5 Su madre dijo a los que servían: Haced todo lo que os dijere.(E) 6 Y estaban allí seis tinajas de piedra para agua, conforme al rito de la purificación de los judíos, en cada una de las cuales cabían dos o tres cántaros. 7 Jesús les dijo: Llenad estas tinajas de agua. Y las llenaron hasta arriba. 8 Entonces les dijo: Sacad ahora, y llevadlo al maestresala. Y se lo llevaron. 9 Cuando el maestresala probó el agua hecha vino, sin saber él de dónde era, aunque lo sabían los sirvientes que habían sacado el agua, llamó al esposo, 10 y le dijo: Todo hombre sirve primero el buen vino, y cuando ya han bebido mucho, entonces el inferior; mas tú has reservado el buen vino hasta ahora. 11 Este principio de señales hizo Jesús en Caná de Galilea, y manifestó su gloria; y sus discípulos creyeron en él.
12 Después de esto descendieron a Capernaum,(F) él, su madre, sus hermanos y sus discípulos; y estuvieron allí no muchos días.
Jesús purifica el templo

13 Estaba cerca la pascua(G) de los judíos; y subió Jesús a Jerusalén, 14 y halló en el templo a los que vendían bueyes, ovejas y palomas, y a los cambistas allí sentados. 15 Y haciendo un azote de cuerdas, echó fuera del templo a todos, y las ovejas y los bueyes; y esparció las monedas de los cambistas, y volcó las mesas; 16 y dijo a los que vendían palomas: Quitad de aquí esto, y no hagáis de la casa de mi Padre casa de mercado. 17 Entonces se acordaron sus discípulos que está escrito: El celo de tu casa me consume.(H) 18 Y los judíos respondieron y le dijeron: ¿Qué señal nos muestras, ya que haces esto? 19 Respondió Jesús y les dijo: Destruid este templo, y en tres días lo levantaré.(I) 20 Dijeron luego los judíos: En cuarenta y seis años fue edificado este templo, ¿y tú en tres días lo levantarás? 21 Mas él hablaba del templo de su cuerpo. 22 Por tanto, cuando resucitó de entre los muertos, sus discípulos se acordaron que había dicho esto; y creyeron la Escritura y la palabra que Jesús había dicho.
Jesús conoce a todos los hombres
23 Estando en Jerusalén en la fiesta de la pascua, muchos creyeron en su nombre, viendo las señales que hacía. 24 Pero Jesús mismo no se fiaba de ellos, porque conocía a todos, 25 y no tenía necesidad de que nadie le diese testimonio del hombre, pues él sabía lo que había en el hombre.

Are you (E)Elijah?” And he *said, “I am not.” “Are you (F)the Prophet?” And he answered, “No.” 22 Then they said to him, “Who are you? Tell us, so that we may give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?” 23 He said, “I am (G)the voice of one calling [b]out in the wilderness, ‘Make the way of the Lord straight,’ as Isaiah the prophet said.”
24 And the messengers had been sent from the Pharisees. 25 They asked him, and said to him, “Why then are you baptizing, if you are not the [c]Christ, nor Elijah, nor (H)the Prophet?” 26 John answered them, saying, “(I)I baptize [d]in water, but among you stands One whom you do not know. 27 It is (J)He who comes after me, of whom I am not worthy even to untie the (K)strap of His sandal.” 28 These things took place in Bethany (L)beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing people.
29 The next day he *saw Jesus coming to him, and *said, “Behold, (M)the Lamb of God who (N)takes away the sin of the world! 30 This is He in behalf of whom I said, ‘(O)After me is coming a Man who has proved to be [e]my superior, (P)because He existed before me.’ 31 And I did not recognize [f]Him, but so that He would be revealed to Israel, I came baptizing [g]in water.” 32 And John (Q)testified, saying, “(R)I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him. 33 And I did not recognize [h]Him, but He who sent me to baptize [i]in water said to me, ‘He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, (S)this is the One who baptizes [j]in the Holy Spirit.’ 34 And I myself have seen, and have testified that this is (T)the [k]Son of God.”
Jesus’ Public Ministry; First Converts
35 Again (U)the next day John was standing [l]with two of his disciples, 36 and he looked at Jesus as He walked, and *said, “Behold, (V)the Lamb of God!” 37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. 38 And Jesus turned and saw them following, and *said to them, “What are you seeking?” They said to Him, “(W)Rabbi (which translated means Teacher), where are You staying?” 39 He *said to them, “Come, and you will see.” So they came and saw where He was staying, and they stayed with Him that day; it was about the [m]tenth hour. 40 (X)One of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. 41 He first *found his own brother Simon and *said to him, “We have found the (Y)Messiah” (which translated means [n]Christ). 42 He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of [o](Z)John; you shall be called (AA)Cephas” (which is translated [p](AB)Peter).
43 (AC)The next day He [q]decided to go to (AD)Galilee, and He *found (AE)Philip. And Jesus *said to him, “(AF)Follow Me.” 44 Now (AG)Philip was from (AH)Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 (AI)Philip *found (AJ)Nathanael and *said to him, “We have found Him of whom (AK)Moses wrote in the Law, and (AL)the prophets also wrote: Jesus (AM)the son of Joseph, from (AN)Nazareth!” 46 Nathanael said to him, “(AO)Can anything good be from Nazareth?” (AP)Philip *said to him, “Come and see.” 47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and *said of him, “Here is truly an (AQ)Israelite, in whom there is no deceit!” 48 Nathanael *said to Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before (AR)Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” 49 Nathanael answered Him, “(AS)Rabbi, You are (AT)the Son of God; You are the (AU)King of Israel!” 50 Jesus answered and said to him, “Because I said to you that I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? Miracle at Cana
2 On (AY)the third day there was a wedding in (AZ)Cana of Galilee, and the (BA)mother of Jesus was there; 2 and both Jesus and His (BB)disciples were invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus *said to Him, “They have no wine.” 4 And Jesus *said to her, “[r](BC)What business do you have with Me, (BD)woman? (BE)My hour has not yet come.” 5 His (BF)mother *said to the servants, “Whatever He tells you, do it.” 6 Now there were six stone waterpots standing there (BG)for the Jewish custom of purification, containing [s]two or three measures each. 7 Jesus *said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” So they filled them up to the brim. 8 And He *said to them, “Draw some out now and take it to the [t]headwaiter.” And they took it to him. 9 Now when the headwaiter tasted the water (BH)which had become wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the headwaiter *called the groom, 10 and *said to him, “Every man serves the good wine first, and when the guests (BI)are drunk, then he serves the poorer wine; but you have kept the good wine until now.” 11 This beginning of His [u](BJ)signs Jesus did in Cana of (BK)Galilee, and revealed His (BL)glory; and His disciples believed in Him.
12 After this He went down to (BM)Capernaum, He and His (BN)mother, and His (BO)brothers and His (BP)disciples; and they stayed there a few days.
First Passover—Cleansing the Temple
13 (BQ)The Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus (BR)went up to Jerusalem. 14 (BS)And within the temple grounds He found those who were selling oxen, sheep, and doves, and the money changers seated at their tables. 15 And He made a whip of [v]cords, and drove them all out of the temple area, with the sheep and the oxen; and He poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables; 16 and to those who were selling (BT)the doves He said, “Take these things away from here; stop making (BU)My Father’s house a [w]place of business!” 17 His (BV)disciples remembered that it was written: “(BW)Zeal for Your house will consume me.” 18 (BX)The Jews then said to Him, “(BY)What sign do You show us [x]as your authority for doing these things?” 19 Jesus answered them, “(BZ)Destroy this [y]temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” 20 (CA)The Jews then said, “It took (CB)forty-six years to build this [z]temple, and yet You will raise it up in three days?” 21 But He was speaking about (CC)the [aa]temple of His body. 22 So when He was raised from the dead, His (CD)disciples (CE)remembered that He said this; and they believed (CF)the Scripture and the word which Jesus had spoken.
23 Now when He was in Jerusalem at (CG)the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name as they (CH)observed His signs which He was doing. 24 But Jesus, on His part, was not entrusting Himself to them, because (CI)He knew all people, 25 and because He did not need anyone to testify about mankind, (CJ)for He Himself knew what was in mankind.
