¹⁶ Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them.^(A) Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people. ¹⁷ They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.

Psalm 1

¹⁹ Is there yet any seed left in the barn? Until now, the vine and the fig tree, the pomegranate^(A) and the olive tree have not borne fruit.^(B)

“‘From this day on I will bless^(C) you.’”

³² For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.^{(A) 33} But seek first his kingdom^(B) and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.^(C)

⁹ However, as it is written:

¹⁰ these are the things God has revealed^(B) to us by his Spirit.^(C)

The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

⁸ And God is able^(A) to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need,^(B) you will abound in every good work. ⁹ As it is written:

¹⁰ Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food^(E) will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.^(F)
