8 Herod was delighted at the opportunity to see Jesus, because he had heard about him and had been hoping for a long time to see him perform a miracle. 9 He asked Jesus question after question, but Jesus refused to answer. 10 Meanwhile, the leading priests and the teachers of religious law stood there shouting their accusations.

8 Now Herod was overjoyed when he saw Jesus; for (A)he had wanted to see Him for a long time, because he had been hearing about Him and was hoping to see some [a]sign performed by Him. 9 And he questioned Him [b]at some length; but (B)He offered him no answer at all. 10 Now the chief priests and the scribes stood there, vehemently charging Him.
