Jesus Is Mocked
63 (A)Now the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking him as they beat him. 64 (B)They also blindfolded him and kept asking him, (C)“Prophesy! (D)Who is it that struck you?” 65 And they said many other things against him, (E)blaspheming him.

66 (F)When day came, (G)the assembly of the elders of the people gathered together, both chief priests and scribes. And they led him away to their (H)council, and they (I)said, 67 (J)“If you are (K)the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe, 68 and if I ask you, you will not answer. 69 But from now on the Son of Man shall be seated (L)at the right hand of the power of God.” 70 So they all said, “Are you (M)the Son of God, then?” And he said to them, (N)“You say that I am.” 71 Then they said, “What further testimony do we need? We have heard it ourselves from his own lips.”

63 Καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες οἱ συνέχοντες [a]αὐτὸν ἐνέπαιζον αὐτῷ δέροντες, 64 καὶ περικαλύψαντες [b]αὐτὸν ἐπηρώτων λέγοντες· Προφήτευσον, τίς ἐστιν ὁ παίσας σε; 65 καὶ ἕτερα πολλὰ βλασφημοῦντες ἔλεγον εἰς αὐτόν.
66 Καὶ ὡς ἐγένετο ἡμέρα, συνήχθη τὸ πρεσβυτέριον τοῦ λαοῦ, ἀρχιερεῖς [c]τε καὶ γραμματεῖς, καὶ [d]ἀπήγαγον αὐτὸν εἰς τὸ συνέδριον αὐτῶν, 67 λέγοντες· Εἰ σὺ εἶ ὁ χριστός, εἰπὸν ἡμῖν. εἶπεν δὲ αὐτοῖς· Ἐὰν ὑμῖν εἴπω οὐ μὴ πιστεύσητε· 68 ἐὰν [e]δὲ ἐρωτήσω, οὐ μὴ [f]ἀποκριθῆτε. 69 ἀπὸ τοῦ νῦν [g]δὲ ἔσται ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου καθήμενος ἐκ δεξιῶν τῆς δυνάμεως τοῦ θεοῦ. 70 εἶπαν δὲ πάντες· Σὺ οὖν εἶ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ; ὁ δὲ πρὸς αὐτοὺς ἔφη· Ὑμεῖς λέγετε ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι. 71 οἱ δὲ εἶπαν· Τί ἔτι [h]ἔχομεν μαρτυρίας χρείαν; αὐτοὶ γὰρ ἠκούσαμεν ἀπὸ τοῦ στόματος αὐτοῦ.

The Guards Mock Jesus(A)
63 The men who were guarding Jesus began mocking and beating him. 64 They blindfolded him and demanded, “Prophesy! Who hit you?” 65 And they said many other insulting things to him.(B)

66 At daybreak the council(F) of the elders of the people, both the chief priests and the teachers of the law, met together,(G) and Jesus was led before them. 67 “If you are the Messiah,” they said, “tell us.”
Jesus answered, “If I tell you, you will not believe me, 68 and if I asked you, you would not answer.(H) 69 But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God.”(I)
70 They all asked, “Are you then the Son of God?”(J)
He replied, “You say that I am.”(K)
71 Then they said, “Why do we need any more testimony? We have heard it from his own lips.”
