²⁵ And He said to them, “Then ^(A)pay to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” ²⁶ And they were unable to ^(B)catch Him in a statement in the presence of the people; and they were amazed at His answer, and said nothing.

Is There a Resurrection?

^27 (C)Now some of the ^(D)Sadducees (who maintain that there is no resurrection) came to Him, ²⁸ and they questioned Him, saying, “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that ^(E)if ^[a]a man’s brother dies, ^[b]leaving a wife, and he is childless, that his brother is to ^[c]marry the wife and raise up children ^[d]for his brother.

¹⁴ For when Gentiles who do not have ^[a]the Law ^[b](A)instinctively perform the requirements of the Law, these, though not having ^[c]the Law, are a law to themselves,

¹⁵ in that they show ^(A)the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience testifying and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them,

⁵ For Moses writes of the righteousness that is ^[a]based on the Law, that the person who performs ^[b]them ^(A)will live by ^[c]them.
