³⁵ Then they brought him to Jesus. ^(A)And they threw their own clothes on the colt, and they set Jesus on him. ³⁶ And as He went, many spread their clothes on the road.

³⁷ Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to ^(B)rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen, ³⁸ saying:

³⁹ And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.”

⁴⁰ But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, ^(E)the stones would immediately cry out.”

Jesus Weeps over Jerusalem

⁴¹ Now as He drew near, He saw the city and ^(F)wept over it, ⁴² saying, “If you had known, even you, especially in this ^(G)your day, the things that ^(H)make for your ^(I)peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. ⁴³ For days will come upon you when your enemies will ^(J)build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, ^44 (K)and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and ^(L)they will not leave in you one stone upon another, ^(M)because you did not know the time of your visitation.”

²⁰ Therefore ^(A)by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

God’s Righteousness Through Faith

²¹ But now ^(B)the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, ^(C)being witnessed by the Law ^(D)and the Prophets, ²² even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all ^[a]and on all who believe. For ^(E)there is no difference; ²³ for ^(F)all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, ²⁴ being justified ^[b]freely ^(G)by His grace ^(H)through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, ²⁵ whom God set forth ^(I)as a ^[c]propitiation ^(J)by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over ^(K)the sins that were previously committed, ²⁶ to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

Boasting Excluded

^27 (L)Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith. ²⁸ Therefore we conclude ^(M)that a man is ^[d]justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law. ²⁹ Or is He the God of the Jews only? Is He not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also, ³⁰ since ^(N)there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith. ³¹ Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law.
