The Seventy-two Sent Out

10 Now after this ^(A)the Lord appointed ^[a]seventy-two ^(B)others, and sent them ^(C)in pairs ahead of Him to every city and place where He Himself was going to come. ² And He was saying to them, “^(D)The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore plead with the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.

⁶⁴ But there are ^(A)some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus ^(B)knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and ^(C)who it was who would ^[a]betray Him. ⁶⁵ And He was saying, “For this reason I have ^(D)told you that no one can come to Me unless ^(E)it has been granted him from the Father.”

Peter’s Confession of Faith

⁶⁶ As a result of this many of His ^(F)disciples ^(G)left, and would no longer walk with Him. ⁶⁷ So Jesus said to ^(H)the twelve, “You do not want to leave also, do you?” ^68 (I)Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have ^(J)words of eternal life. ⁶⁹ And we have already believed and have come to know that You are ^(K)the Holy One of God.”

Introduction

1 The first account I ^[a]composed, ^(A)Theophilus, about all that Jesus ^(B)began to do and teach, ² until the day when He ^(C)was taken up to heaven, after He ^(D)had given orders ^[b]by the Holy Spirit to ^(E)the apostles whom He had ^(F)chosen. ³ To ^[c]these ^(G)He also presented Himself alive after His suffering, by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking of ^(H)things regarding the kingdom of God.

⁶ After that He appeared to more than five hundred brothers and sisters at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some ^(A)have fallen asleep;
