9 A unos que confiaban en sí mismos como justos, y menospreciaban a los otros, dijo también esta parábola: 10 Dos hombres subieron al templo a orar: uno era fariseo, y el otro publicano. 11 El fariseo, puesto en pie, oraba consigo mismo de esta manera: Dios, te doy gracias porque no soy como los otros hombres, ladrones, injustos, adúlteros, ni aun como este publicano; 12 ayuno dos veces a la semana, doy diezmos de todo lo que gano. 13 Mas el publicano, estando lejos, no quería ni aun alzar los ojos al cielo, sino que se golpeaba el pecho, diciendo: Dios, sé propicio a mí, pecador. 14 Os digo que este descendió a su casa justificado antes que el otro; porque cualquiera que se enaltece, será humillado; y el que se humilla será enaltecido.(A)

9 Now He also told this parable to some people who (A)trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and (B)viewed others with contempt: 10 “Two men (C)went up into the [a]temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee (D)stood and began praying this in regard to himself: ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, crooked, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 12 I (E)fast twice a week; I (F)pay tithes of all that I get.’ 13 But the tax collector, (G)standing some distance away, (H)was even unwilling to raise his eyes toward heaven, but (I)was beating his chest, saying, ‘God, be [b]merciful to me, the sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other one; (J)for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

2 Y se acercaron los fariseos y le preguntaron, para tentarle, si era lícito al marido repudiar a su mujer. 3 Él, respondiendo, les dijo: ¿Qué os mandó Moisés? 4 Ellos dijeron: Moisés permitió dar carta de divorcio, y repudiarla.(A) 5 Y respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Por la dureza de vuestro corazón os escribió este mandamiento; 6 pero al principio de la creación, varón y hembra los hizo Dios.(B) 7 Por esto dejará el hombre a su padre y a su madre, y se unirá a su mujer, 8 y los dos serán una sola carne; así que no son ya más dos, sino uno.(C) 9 Por tanto, lo que Dios juntó, no lo separe el hombre.

10 (A)Setting out from there, Jesus *went to the region of Judea and beyond the Jordan; crowds *gathered to Him again, and, (B)as He was accustomed, He once more began to teach them.
2 And some Pharisees came up to Jesus, testing Him, and began questioning Him whether it was lawful for a man to [a]divorce his wife. 3 And He answered and said to them, “What did Moses command you?” 4 They said, “(C)Moses permitted a man to write a [b]certificate of divorce and [c]send his wife away.” 5 But Jesus said to them, “[d](D)Because of your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment. 6 But (E)from the beginning of creation, God (F)created them male and female. 7 (G)For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother[e], 8 (H)and the two shall become one flesh; so they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9 Therefore, what God has joined together, no person is to separate.”
10 And in the house the disciples again began questioning Him about this. 11 And He *said to them, “(I)Whoever [f]divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her; 12 and (J)if she herself [g]divorces her husband and marries another man, she is committing adultery.”

19 (A)When Jesus had finished these words, He left Galilee and (B)came into the region of Judea beyond the Jordan; 2 and [a]large crowds followed Him, and (C)He healed them there.
3 Some Pharisees came to [b]Jesus, testing Him and [c]asking, “(D)Is it lawful for a man to [d]divorce his wife for any reason at all?” 4 And He answered and said, “Have you not read (E)that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female, 5 and said, ‘(F)For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife, and (G)the two shall become one flesh’? 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. 10 The disciples *said to Him, “If the relationship of the man with his wife is like this, it is better not to marry.” 11 But He said to them, “(J)Not all men can accept this statement, but (K)only those to whom it has been given. 12 For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother’s womb; and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by people; and there are also eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who is able to accept this, let him accept it.”

No one is good except God alone. 19 You know the commandments: ‘(D)Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not give false testimony, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.’” 20 And he said to Him, “Teacher, I have kept (E)all these things from my youth.” 21 Looking at him, Jesus showed love to him and said to him, “One thing you lack: go and sell all you possess and give to the poor, and you will have (F)treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” 22 But he [a]was deeply dismayed by [b]these words, and he went away grieving; for he was one who owned much property.
23 And Jesus, looking around, *said to His disciples, “(G)How hard it will be for those who are wealthy to enter the kingdom of God!” 24 And the disciples (H)were amazed at His words. But Jesus responded again and *said to them, “Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! 25 (I)It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” 26 And they were even more astonished, and said to Him, “[c]Then who can be saved?” 27 Looking at them, Jesus *said, “(J)With people it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.”

The Disciples’ Reward
27 Then Peter responded and said to Him, “Behold, we have left everything and followed You; what then will there be for us?” 28 And Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you, that you who have followed Me, in the [b]regeneration when (L)the Son of Man will sit on [c]His glorious throne, (M)you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And (N)everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother [d]or children or farms on account of My name, will receive [e]many times as much, and will inherit eternal life. 30 (O)But many who are first will be last; and the last, first.
