31 And the priest shall offer up the fat in smoke on the altar, but (A)the breast shall belong to Aaron and his sons. 32 And you shall give (B)the right thigh to the priest as a [a]contribution from the sacrifices of your peace offerings. 33 The one among the sons of Aaron who brings near the blood of the peace offerings and the fat, the right thigh shall be his as his portion. 34 For I have taken (C)the breast of the wave offering and the thigh of the [b]contribution from the sons of Israel from the sacrifices of their peace offerings, and I have given them to Aaron the priest and to his sons as a perpetual statute taken from the sons of Israel.

35 ‘This is [c]the share for Aaron and [d]the (D)share for his sons from the offerings by fire to Yahweh, in that day when he brought them near to minister as priests to Yahweh. 36 [e]These Yahweh had commanded to be given them from the sons of Israel in the day that He (E)anointed them. It is a perpetual statute throughout their generations.’”

37 This is the law of the burnt offering, the grain offering and the sin offering and the guilt offering and (F)the ordination offering and the sacrifice of peace offerings, 38 (G)which Yahweh commanded Moses at Mount Sinai in the day that He commanded the sons of Israel to bring their offerings near to Yahweh in the wilderness of Sinai.

The Statutes of Jealousy

11 Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 12 “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘If any man’s wife (C)goes astray and is unfaithful to him, 13 and a man lies (D)sexually with her, and it is hidden from the eyes of her husband, and she is [b]undetected; but she has defiled herself, and there is no witness against her, and she has not been caught in the act, 14 [c]if a spirit of (E)jealousy comes over him and he is jealous of his wife and she has defiled herself, or if a spirit of jealousy comes over him and he is jealous of his wife but she has not defiled herself, 15 the man shall then bring his wife to the priest and shall bring as [d]an offering for her one-tenth of an [e]ephah of barley meal; he shall not pour oil on it nor put frankincense on it, for it is a grain offering of jealousy, a grain offering of remembrance, (F)a reminder of iniquity.

16 ‘Then the priest shall bring her near and have her stand before Yahweh, 17 and the priest shall take holy water in an earthenware vessel; and the priest shall take some of the dust that is on the floor of the tabernacle and put it into the water. 18 The priest shall then have the woman stand before Yahweh and let the hair of the woman’s head go loose, and he shall place the grain offering of remembrance [f]in her hands, which is the grain offering of jealousy; and in the hand of the priest is to be the water of bitterness that brings curses. 19 Then the priest shall have her swear an oath and shall say to the woman, “If no man has lain with you, and if you have not (G)gone astray into [g]defilement, being under the authority of your husband, be free from this water of bitterness that brings curses; 20 if you, however, have (H)gone astray, being under the authority of your husband, and if you have defiled yourself, and a man other than your husband has lain with you” 21 (then the priest shall have the woman (I)swear with the oath of the curse, and the priest shall say to the woman), “Yahweh make you a curse and an oath among your people by Yahweh making your thigh fall away and your abdomen swell; 22 and this water that brings curses shall go into your [h]stomach and make your abdomen swell and your thigh fall away.” And the woman (J)shall say, “Amen. Amen.”

23 ‘The priest shall then write these curses on a scroll, and he shall [i]wash them off into the water of bitterness. 24 Then he shall make the woman drink the water of bitterness that brings curses, so that the water which brings a curse will go into her to cause bitterness. 25 And the priest shall take the grain offering of jealousy from the woman’s hand, and he shall wave the grain offering before Yahweh and bring it near to the altar; 26 and (K)the priest shall take a handful of the grain offering as its memorial offering and offer it up in smoke on the altar, and afterward he shall make the woman drink the water. 27 So he will have her drink the water, and it will be that, if she has defiled herself and has been unfaithful to her husband, that the water which brings curses will go into her to cause bitterness, and her abdomen will swell and her thigh will fall away, and the woman will become (L)a curse among her people. 28 But if the woman has not defiled herself and is clean, she will then be free and conceive a seed.

29 ‘This is the law of jealousy: when a wife, being under the authority of her husband, (M)goes astray and defiles herself, 30 or when a spirit of jealousy comes over a man and he is jealous of his wife, he shall then make the woman stand before Yahweh, and the priest shall apply all this law to her. 31 Moreover, the man will be free from [j]guilt, but that woman shall (N)bear her [k]guilt.’”

The Priests’ Portion

Then Yahweh spoke to Aaron, “Now behold, I Myself have given you the responsibility of My [a](A)contributions, even all the holy gifts of the sons of Israel I have given them to you as a portion and to your sons as a perpetual statute. This shall be yours from the most holy gifts reserved from the fire; every offering of theirs, even (B)every grain offering and every (C)sin offering and every guilt offering, which they shall render to Me, shall be most holy for you and for your sons. 10 As the most holy gifts you shall eat it; every male shall eat it. It shall be holy to you. 11 This also is yours, (D)the contribution from their gift, even all the wave offerings of the sons of Israel; I have (E)given them to you and to your sons and daughters with you as a perpetual statute. Everyone of your household who is clean may eat it. 12 (F)All the [b]best of the fresh oil and all the [c]best of the fresh wine and of the grain, the first fruits of those which they give to Yahweh, I give them to you. 13 (G)The first ripe fruits of all that is in their land, which they bring to Yahweh, shall be yours; everyone of your household who is clean may eat it. 14 (H)Every devoted thing in Israel shall be yours. 15 [d](I)Every first issue of the womb of all flesh, whether man or animal, which they bring near to Yahweh, shall be yours; nevertheless the firstborn of man you shall surely redeem, and the firstborn of unclean animals you shall redeem. 16 Now as to their redemption price, from a month old you shall redeem them, by your valuation, five [e]shekels in silver, according to the [f]shekel of the sanctuary, which is twenty gerahs. 17 But (J)the firstborn of an ox or the firstborn of a sheep or the firstborn of a goat, you shall not redeem; they are holy. (K)You shall splash their blood on the altar and shall offer up their fat in smoke as an offering by fire, for a soothing aroma to Yahweh. 18 And their [g]meat shall be yours; it shall be yours like the (L)breast of a wave offering and like the right thigh. 19 (M)All the contributions of the holy gifts, which the sons of Israel raise up to Yahweh, I have given to you and your sons and your daughters with you, as a perpetual statute. It is (N)an everlasting covenant of salt before Yahweh to you and your seed with you.” 20 Then Yahweh said to Aaron, “(O)You shall have no inheritance in their land nor own any portion among them; (P)I am your portion and your inheritance among the sons of Israel.
