And to the half-tribe of Manasseh Moses had given a possession in Bashan, but to the other half Joshua had given a possession with their kinsmen[a] beyond the Jordan to the west; and when Joshua sent them to their tents and blessed them, he said to them, “Return to your tents with much wealth, and with very much livestock, with silver, gold, copper, iron, and with very much clothing; divide the war-booty of your enemies with your kinsmen.”[b] So the descendants[c] of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh returned home and departed with the Israelites[d] at Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan, to go to the land of Gilead to the land of their possession, which they had acquired according to the command of Yahweh[e] through the hand of Moses.

When Joshua sent them home, he blessed them,(C) saying, “Return to your homes with your great wealth—with large herds of livestock,(D) with silver, gold, bronze and iron,(E) and a great quantity of clothing—and divide(F) the plunder(G) from your enemies with your fellow Israelites.”

So the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh left the Israelites at Shiloh(H) in Canaan to return to Gilead,(I) their own land, which they had acquired in accordance with the command of the Lord through Moses.
