Half the Tribe of Manasseh (East)

29 (A)Moses also had given an inheritance to half the tribe of Manasseh; it was for half the tribe of the children of Manasseh according to their families: 30 Their territory was from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and (B)all the towns of Jair which are in Bashan, sixty cities; 31 half of Gilead, and (C)Ashtaroth and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were for the (D)children of Machir the son of Manasseh, for half of the children of Machir according to their families.

29 This is what Moses had given to the half-tribe of Manasseh, that is, to half the family of the descendants of Manasseh, according to its clans:

30 The territory extending from Mahanaim(A) and including all of Bashan,(B) the entire realm of Og king of Bashan(C)—all the settlements of Jair(D) in Bashan, sixty towns, 31 half of Gilead, and Ashtaroth and Edrei (the royal cities of Og in Bashan).(E) This was for the descendants of Makir(F) son of Manasseh—for half of the sons of Makir, according to their clans.(G)

17 There was also a lot for the tribe of Manasseh, for he was the (A)firstborn of Joseph: namely for (B)Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead, because he was a man of war; therefore he was given (C)Gilead and Bashan.

17 This was the allotment for the tribe of Manasseh(A) as Joseph’s firstborn,(B) that is, for Makir,(C) Manasseh’s firstborn. Makir was the ancestor of the Gileadites, who had received Gilead(D) and Bashan(E) because the Makirites were great soldiers.
