Allotment for Benjamin

¹¹The first lot came up for the tribe of Benjamin according to its clans. Their allotted territory lay between the tribes of Judah and Joseph:

¹²On the north side their boundary began at the Jordan, passed the northern slope of Jericho and headed west into the hill country, coming out at the wilderness^(A) of Beth Aven.^(B) ¹³From there it crossed to the south slope of Luz^(C) (that is, Bethel^(D)) and went down to Ataroth Addar^(E) on the hill south of Lower Beth Horon.

¹⁴From the hill facing Beth Horon^(F) on the south the boundary turned south along the western side and came out at Kiriath Baal (that is, Kiriath Jearim),^(G) a town of the people of Judah. This was the western side.

¹⁵The southern side began at the outskirts of Kiriath Jearim on the west, and the boundary came out at the spring of the waters of Nephtoah.^(H) ¹⁶The boundary went down to the foot of the hill facing the Valley of Ben Hinnom, north of the Valley of Rephaim.^(I) It continued down the Hinnom Valley^(J) along the southern slope of the Jebusite city and so to En Rogel.^(K) ¹⁷It then curved north, went to En Shemesh, continued to Geliloth,^(L) which faces the Pass of Adummim,^(M) and ran down to the Stone of Bohan^(N) son of Reuben. ¹⁸It continued to the northern slope of Beth Arabah^[a]^(O) and on down into the Arabah.^(P) ¹⁹It then went to the northern slope of Beth Hoglah^(Q) and came out at the northern bay of the Dead Sea,^(R) at the mouth of the Jordan in the south. This was the southern boundary.

²⁰The Jordan formed the boundary on the eastern side.

These were the boundaries that marked out the inheritance of the clans of Benjamin on all sides.^(S)

²¹The tribe of Benjamin, according to its clans, had the following towns:

Jericho, Beth Hoglah,^(T) Emek Keziz, ²²Beth Arabah,^(U) Zemaraim,^(V) Bethel,^(W) ²³Avvim,^(X) Parah, Ophrah,^(Y) ²⁴Kephar Ammoni, Ophni and Geba^(Z)—twelve towns and their villages.

²⁵Gibeon,^(AA) Ramah,^(AB) Beeroth,^(AC) ²⁶Mizpah,^(AD) Kephirah,^(AE) Mozah, ²⁷Rekem, Irpeel, Taralah, ²⁸Zelah,^(AF) Haeleph, the Jebusite city^(AG) (that is, Jerusalem^(AH)), Gibeah^(AI) and Kiriath—fourteen towns and their villages.^(AJ)

This was the inheritance of Benjamin for its clans.^(AK)

Allotment for Simeon^(AL)

19 The second lot came out for the tribe of Simeon according to its clans. Their inheritance lay within the territory of Judah.^(AM) ²It included:

Beersheba^(AN) (or Sheba),^[b] Moladah,^(AO) ³Hazar Shual,^(AP) Balah, Ezem,^(AQ) ⁴Eltolad,^(AR) Bethul, Hormah,^(AS) ⁵Ziklag,^(AT) Beth Markaboth, Hazar Susah, ⁶Beth Lebaoth and Sharuhen—thirteen towns and their villages;

⁷Ain, Rimmon,^(AU) Ether and Ashan^(AV)—four towns and their villages— ⁸and all the villages around these towns as far as Baalath Beer (Ramah in the Negev).^(AW)

This was the inheritance of the tribe of the Simeonites, according to its clans. ⁹The inheritance of the Simeonites was taken from the share of Judah,^(AX) because Judah’s portion was more than they needed. So the Simeonites received their inheritance within the territory of Judah.^(AY)

²²Then he said to his disciples, “The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man,^(A) but you will not see it.^(B) ²³People will tell you, ‘There he is!’ or ‘Here he is!’ Do not go running off after them.^(C) ²⁴For the Son of Man in his day^[a] will be like the lightning,^(D) which flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other. ²⁵But first he must suffer many things^(E) and be rejected^(F) by this generation.^(G)

²⁶“Just as it was in the days of Noah,^(H) so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. ²⁷People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.

²⁸“It was the same in the days of Lot.^(I) People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. ²⁹But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.

³⁰“It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed.^(J) ³¹On that day no one who is on the housetop, with possessions inside, should go down to get them. Likewise, no one in the field should go back for anything.^(K) ³²Remember Lot’s wife!^(L) ³³Whoever tries to keep their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life will preserve it.^(M) ³⁴I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. ³⁵Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left.”^(N) ^[36]^[b]
