Philip and Nathanael
43 The following day Jesus wanted to go to Galilee, and He found (A)Philip and said to him, “Follow Me.” 44 Now (B)Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 Philip found (C)Nathanael and said to him, “We have found Him of whom (D)Moses in the law, and also the (E)prophets, wrote—Jesus (F)of Nazareth, the (G)son of Joseph.”
46 And Nathanael said to him, (H)“Can anything good come out of Nazareth?”
Philip said to him, “Come and see.”
47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, “Behold, (I)an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!”
48 Nathanael said to Him, “How do You know me?”
Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”
49 Nathanael answered and said to Him, “Rabbi, (J)You are the Son of God! You are (K)the King of Israel!”
50 Jesus answered and said to him, “Because I said to you, ‘I saw you under the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these.” 51 And He said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, (L)hereafter[a] you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.”
Water Turned to Wine
2 On the third day there was a (M)wedding in (N)Cana of Galilee, and the (O)mother of Jesus was there. 2 Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. 3 And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”
4 Jesus said to her, (P)“Woman, (Q)what does your concern have to do with Me? (R)My hour has not yet come.”
5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”
6 Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, (S)according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. 7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it. 9 When the master of the feast had tasted (T)the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. 10 And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”
11 This (U)beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, (V)and [b]manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.
12 After this He went down to (W)Capernaum, He, His mother, (X)His brothers, and His disciples; and they did not stay there many days.

Jesus Calls Philip and Nathanael
43 The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip,(A) he said to him, “Follow me.”(B)
44 Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida.(C) 45 Philip found Nathanael(D) and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law,(E) and about whom the prophets also wrote(F)—Jesus of Nazareth,(G) the son of Joseph.”(H)
46 “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?”(I) Nathanael asked.
“Come and see,” said Philip.
47 When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, “Here truly is an Israelite(J) in whom there is no deceit.”(K)
48 “How do you know me?” Nathanael asked.
Jesus answered, “I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.”
49 Then Nathanael declared, “Rabbi,(L) you are the Son of God;(M) you are the king of Israel.”(N)
50 Jesus said, “You believe[a] because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that.” 51 He then added, “Very truly I tell you,[b] you[c] will see ‘heaven open,(O) and the angels of God ascending and descending(P) on’[d] the Son of Man.”(Q)
Jesus Changes Water Into Wine
2 On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee.(R) Jesus’ mother(S) was there, 2 and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”
4 “Woman,[e](T) why do you involve me?”(U) Jesus replied. “My hour(V) has not yet come.”
5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”(W)
6 Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing,(X) each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.[f]
7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.
8 Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”
They did so, 9 and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine.(Y) He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside 10 and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”
11 What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs(Z) through which he revealed his glory;(AA) and his disciples believed in him.(AB)
12 After this he went down to Capernaum(AC) with his mother(AD) and brothers(AE) and his disciples. There they stayed for a few days.
