33 Therefore Jesus said, (A)For a little while longer I am going to be with you, and then (B)I am going to Him who sent Me. 34 (C)You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come.” 35 (D)The Jews then said to one another, “(E)Where does this man intend to go that we will not find Him? He does not intend to go to (F)the Dispersion among (G)the Greeks, and teach the Greeks, does He? 36 What is this statement that He said, (H)You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come’?”

37 Now on (I)the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, (J)If anyone is thirsty, [a]let him come to Me and drink. 38 The one who believes in Me, (K)as the Scripture said, ‘[b]From his innermost being will flow rivers of (L)living water.’” 39 But this He said (M)in reference to the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for (N)the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet (O)glorified.

Jesus among His Disciples

19 Now when it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were [a]shut where the disciples were together due to (A)fear of the [b]Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst, and *said to them, (B)Peace be to you.” 20 And when He had said this, (C)He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciples then (D)rejoiced when they saw the Lord. 21 So Jesus said to them again, (E)Peace be to you; (F)just as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them and *said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 (G)If you forgive the sins of any, their sins [c]have been forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained.”

24 But (H)Thomas, one of (I)the twelve, who was called [d](J)Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples were saying to him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see in (K)His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, (L)I will not believe.”

26 [e]Eight days later His disciples were again inside, and Thomas was with them. Jesus *came, the doors having been [f]shut, and stood in their midst and said, (M)Peace be to you.” 27 Then He *said to Thomas, (N)Place your finger here, and see My hands; and take your hand and put it into My side; and do not continue in disbelief, but be a believer.” 28 Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Jesus *said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you now believed? (O)Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed.”

Why This Gospel Was Written

30 (P)So then, many other [g](Q)signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these have been written (R)so that you may believe that Jesus is the [h]Christ, (S)the Son of God; and that by (T)believing you may have life in His name.
