Jesus’ Provision for His Mother

25 Standing(A) by the cross(B) of Jesus were His mother,(C) His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.(D) 26 When Jesus saw His mother and the disciple He loved(E) standing there, He said to His mother, “Woman, here is your son.” 27 Then He said to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.

The Finished Work of Jesus

28 After(F) this, when Jesus knew that everything was now accomplished(G) that the Scripture might be fulfilled, He said, “I’m thirsty!”(H) 29 A jar full of sour wine was sitting there; so they fixed a sponge full of sour wine on hyssop[a](I) and held it up to His mouth.

30 When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!”(J) Then bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.(K)

29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.

30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
