¹⁴ You are my friends^(A) if you do what I command.^{(B) 15} I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.^{(C) 16} You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you^(D) so that you might go and bear fruit^(E)—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.^(F)

²¹ For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.^(A)

⁴⁴ “The kingdom of heaven is like^(A) treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.^(B)

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

¹⁵ “If you love me, keep my commands.^(A)

⁹ However, as it is written:

¹⁰ these are the things God has revealed^(B) to us by his Spirit.^(C)

The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

² My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart^(A) and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery^(B) of God, namely, Christ, ³ in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.^(C)
