Jesus the Way to the Father

Thomas(A) said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

Jesus answered, “I am(B) the way(C) and the truth(D) and the life.(E) No one comes to the Father except through me.(F) If you really know me, you will know[a] my Father as well.(G) From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

Philip(H) said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”

Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.(I) How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

Thomas: Lord, we don’t know where You are going, so how can we know the path?

Jesus: I am the path, the truth, and the energy of life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you know Me, you know the Father. Rest assured now; you know Him and have seen Him.

Philip: Lord, all I am asking is that You show us the Father.

Jesus (to Philip): I have lived with you all this time, and you still don’t know who I am? If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father. How can you keep asking to see the Father?

Thomas said, “Master, we have no idea where you’re going. How do you expect us to know the road?”

6-7 Jesus said, “I am the Road, also the Truth, also the Life. No one gets to the Father apart from me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him. You’ve even seen him!”

Philip said, “Master, show us the Father; then we’ll be content.”

9-10 “You’ve been with me all this time, Philip, and you still don’t understand? To see me is to see the Father. So how can you ask, ‘Where is the Father?’ Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I speak to you aren’t mere words. I don’t just make them up on my own. The Father who resides in me crafts each word into a divine act.

«Señor, si no sabemos adónde vas, ¿cómo vamos a[a] conocer el camino?», le dijo* Tomás(A). Jesús le dijo*: «Yo soy el camino(B), la verdad(C) y la vida(D); nadie viene al Padre sino por Mí. Si ustedes me hubieran conocido, también hubieran conocido a Mi Padre(E); desde ahora lo conocen(F) y lo han visto(G)».

«Señor, muéstranos al Padre y nos basta», le dijo* Felipe(H). Jesús le dijo*: «¿Tanto tiempo he estado con ustedes, y todavía no me conoces, Felipe? El que me ha visto a Mí, ha visto al Padre(I). ¿Cómo dices tú: “Muéstranos al Padre”?
