31 Therefore when he had left, Jesus *said, “Now [a]is (A)the Son of Man (B)glorified, and (C)God [b]is glorified in Him; 32 [c]if God is glorified in Him, (D)God will also glorify Him in Himself, and will glorify Him immediately. 33 (E)Little children, I am still with you (F)a little longer. (G)You will look for Me; and just as I said to the [d]Jews, now I also say to you: ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’ 34 I am giving you a (H)new commandment, (I)that you love one another; (J)just as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 (K)By this all people will know that you are My disciples: if you have love for one another.”

36 Simon Peter *said to Him, “Lord, where are You going?” Jesus answered, (L)Where I am going, you cannot follow Me now; but (M)you will follow later.” 37 Peter *said to Him, “Lord, why can I not follow You right now? (N)I will lay down my life for You.” 38 Jesus *replied, “Will you lay down your life for Me? Truly, truly I say to you, (O)a rooster will not crow until you deny Me three times.

Jesus Comforts His Disciples

14 (P)Do not let your heart be troubled; [e]believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many [f]rooms; if that were not so, [g]I would have told you, because (Q)I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, (R)I am coming again and will take you to Myself, so that (S)where I am, there you also will be. And you know the way where I am going.” (T)Thomas *said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going; how do we know the way?” Jesus *said to him, “I am (U)the way, and (V)the truth, and (W)the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.

Oneness with the Father

(X)If you [h]had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you (Y)know Him, and have (Z)seen Him.”

(AA)Philip *said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” Jesus *said to him, “Have I been with [i]you for so long a time, and yet [j]you have not come to know Me, Philip? (AB)The one who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that (AC)I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? (AD)The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own, but the Father, as He remains in Me, does His works. 11 Believe Me that (AE)I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise (AF)believe because of the works themselves. 12 Truly, truly I say to you, the one who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and (AG)greater works than these he will do; because (AH)I am going to the Father. 13 And (AI)whatever you ask in My name, this I will do, so that (AJ)the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask Me anything (AK)in My name, I will do it.
