¹² But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God,^(A)

¹⁵ I do not call you servants^[a] any longer, because the servant^[b] does not know what the master is doing, but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father.

³⁸ For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,^{(A) 39} nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Salutation

1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God,

To the saints who are in Ephesus and are faithful^[a] in Christ Jesus:

⁶ and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places^[a] in Christ Jesus,

⁵ He destined us^[a] for adoption as his children^[b] through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will,^(A)

¹⁸ for through him both of us have access in one Spirit to the Father.^(A)

²³ and you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.^(A)

¹⁷ But anyone united to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.^{(A) 18} Shun sexual immorality!^[a] Every sin that a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person^[b] sins against the body itself.^{(B) 19} Or do you not know that your body is a temple^[c] of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are not your own?^{(C) 20} For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.^(D)

²¹ But it is God who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us,^{(A) 22} who has put his seal on us and given^[a] us his Spirit in our hearts as a down payment.^(B)
