John 17:20-26

Jesus Prays for All Believers

²⁰“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, ²¹that all of them may be one,^(A) Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.^(B) May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.^(C) ²²I have given them the glory that you gave me,^(D) that they may be one as we are one^(E)— ²³I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me^(F) and have loved them^(G) even as you have loved me.

²⁴“Father, I want those you have given me^(H) to be with me where I am,^(I) and to see my glory,^(J) the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.^(K)

²⁵“Righteous Father, though the world does not know you,^(L) I know you, and they know that you have sent me.^(M) ²⁶I have made you^[a] known to them,^(N) and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them^(O) and that I myself may be in them.”

Paul’s Vision of the Man of Macedonia

⁶Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia^(A) and Galatia,^(B) having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia.^(C) ⁷When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus^(D) would not allow them to. ⁸So they passed by Mysia and went down to Troas.^(E) ⁹During the night Paul had a vision^(F) of a man of Macedonia^(G) standing and begging him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” ¹⁰After Paul had seen the vision, we^(H) got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel^(I) to them.

Epilogue: Invitation and Warning

¹²“Look, I am coming soon!^(A) My reward is with me,^(B) and I will give to each person according to what they have done.^(C) ¹³I am the Alpha and the Omega,^(D) the First and the Last,^(E) the Beginning and the End.^(F)

¹⁴“Blessed are those who wash their robes,^(G) that they may have the right to the tree of life^(H) and may go through the gates^(I) into the city.^(J) ¹⁵Outside^(K) are the dogs,^(L) those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

¹⁶“I, Jesus,^(M) have sent my angel^(N) to give you^[a] this testimony for the churches.^(O) I am the Root^(P) and the Offspring of David,^(Q) and the bright Morning Star.”^(R)

¹⁷The Spirit^(S) and the bride^(T) say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.^(U)

¹⁸I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll:^(V) If anyone adds anything to them,^(W) God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll.^(X) ¹⁹And if anyone takes words away^(Y) from this scroll of prophecy,^(Z) God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life^(AA) and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll.
