³³ I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.”

⁴ You are from God, little children, and you have conquered them, because the One who is in you^(A) is greater than the one who is in the world.^(B)

¹² For our battle is not against flesh^(A) and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities,^(B) against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil^(C) in the heavens.^(D)

³ But if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. ⁴ In their case, the god of this age^(A) has blinded the minds of the unbelievers so they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ,^[a](B) who is the image of God.^{(C) 5} For we are not proclaiming ourselves but Jesus Christ as Lord,^(D) and ourselves as your slaves because of Jesus.

²³ since you have been born again^(A)—not of perishable seed^(B) but of imperishable—through the living and enduring word of God.^(C)

¹⁸ We know that everyone who has been born of God does not sin, but the One^[a] who is born of God keeps him,^[b][c](A) and the evil one does not touch him.
