John 16:22-27

22 So with you: Now is your time of grief,(A) but I will see you again(B) and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.(C) 23 In that day(D) you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.(E) 24 Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive,(F) and your joy will be complete.(G)
25 “Though I have been speaking figuratively,(H) a time is coming(I) when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father. 26 In that day you will ask in my name.(J) I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. 27 No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me(K) and have believed that I came from God.(L)

But the time will come when I will not use stories like that to tell you things; I will speak to you in plain words about the Father. 26 In that day you will ask the Father for things in my name. I mean, I will not need to ask the Father for you. 27 The Father himself loves you. He loves you because you loved me and believed that I came from God.
