9 Simon Peter said to him, “Master, then not only my feet, but my hands and head as well.” 10 Jesus said to him, “Whoever has bathed[a] has no need except to have his feet washed, for he is clean all over; so you are clean, but not all.”(A) 11 For he knew who would betray him; for this reason, he said, “Not all of you are clean.”(B)

- 13:10 Bathed: many have suggested that this passage is a symbolic reference to baptism. The Greek root involved is used in baptismal contexts in 1 Cor 6:11; Eph 5:26; Ti 3:5; Hb 10:22.

New International Version
9 “Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!”
10 Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean,(A) though not every one of you.”(B) 11 For he knew who was going to betray him,(C) and that was why he said not every one was clean.
