54 Therefore Jesus (A)no longer continued to walk publicly among the Jews, but went away from there to the region near the wilderness, into a city called (B)Ephraim; and there He stayed with the disciples.

55 Now (C)the Passover of the Jews was near, and many went up to Jerusalem from the country prior to the Passover, (D)in order to [a]purify themselves. 56 So they (E)were looking for Jesus, and saying to one another as they stood in the temple area, “What do you think; that He will not come to the feast at all?” 57 Now (F)the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that if anyone knew where He was, he was to report it, so that they might arrest Him.

55 When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover,(B) many went up from the country to Jerusalem for their ceremonial cleansing(C) before the Passover. 56 They kept looking for Jesus,(D) and as they stood in the temple courts they asked one another, “What do you think? Isn’t he coming to the festival at all?” 57 But the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that anyone who found out where Jesus was should report it so that they might arrest him.
