John 19:30-31

30 When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, (A)“It is finished,” and he bowed his head and (B)gave up his spirit.

31 Since it was (C)the day of Preparation, and (D)so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was (E)a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken and that they might be taken away.

New International Version
30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.”(A) With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
31 Now it was the day of Preparation,(B) and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses(C) during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down.
