²⁵ Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come^(A) when the dead will hear^(B) the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live.

²⁹ and come out—those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned.^{(A) 30} By myself I can do nothing;^(B) I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just,^(C) for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.^(D)

³² There is another who testifies in my favor,^(A) and I know that his testimony about me is true.

³³ “You have sent to John and he has testified^(B) to the truth.

³⁷ And the Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me.^(A) You have never heard his voice nor seen his form,^{(B) 38} nor does his word dwell in you,^(C) for you do not believe^(D) the one he sent.^(E)

⁷ The Jewish leaders insisted, “We have a law, and according to that law he must die,^(A) because he claimed to be the Son of God.”^(B)
