5 “Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred [a]denarii and the proceeds given to poor people?” 6 Now he said this, not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief, and as he (A)kept the money box, he used to [b]steal from (B)what was put into it.

5 “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.[a]” 6 He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag,(A) he used to help himself to what was put into it.
