Jeremías compra la heredad de Hanameel

32 Palabra de Jehová que vino a Jeremías, el año décimo de Sedequías(A) rey de Judá, que fue el año decimoctavo de Nabucodonosor. 2 Entonces el ejército del rey de Babilonia tenía sitiada a Jerusalén, y el profeta Jeremías estaba preso en el patio de la cárcel que estaba en la casa del rey de Judá. 3 Porque Sedequías rey de Judá lo había puesto preso, diciendo: ¿Por qué profetizas tú diciendo: Así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí yo entrego esta ciudad en mano del rey de Babilonia, y la tomará; 4 y Sedequías rey de Judá no escapará de la mano de los caldeos, sino que de cierto será entregado en mano del rey de Babilonia, y hablará con él boca a boca, y sus ojos verán sus ojos, 5 y hará llevar a Sedequías a Babilonia, y allá estará hasta que yo le visite; y si peleareis contra los caldeos, no os irá bien, dice Jehová?

6 Dijo Jeremías: Palabra de Jehová vino a mí, diciendo: 7 He aquí que Hanameel hijo de Salum tu tío viene a ti, diciendo: Cómprame mi heredad que está en Anatot; porque tú tienes derecho a ella para comprarla. 8 Y vino a mí Hanameel hijo de mi tío, conforme a la palabra de Jehová, al patio de la cárcel, y me dijo: Compra ahora mi heredad, que está en Anatot en tierra de Benjamín, porque tuyo es el derecho de la herencia, y a ti corresponde el rescate; cómprala para ti. Entonces conocí que era palabra de Jehová.

9 Y compré la heredad de Hanameel, hijo de mi tío, la cual estaba en Anatot, y le pesé el dinero; diecisiete siclos de plata. 10 Y escribí la carta y la sellé, y la hice certificar con testigos, y pesé el dinero en balanza. 11 Tomé luego la carta de venta, sellada según el derecho y costumbre, y la copia abierta. 12 Y di la carta de venta a Baruc hijo de Nerías, hijo de Maasías, delante de Hanameel el hijo de mi tío, y delante de los testigos que habían suscrito la carta de venta, delante de todos los judíos que estaban en el patio de la cárcel. 13 Y di orden a Baruc delante de ellos, diciendo: 14 Así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: Toma estas cartas, esta carta de venta sellada, y esta carta abierta, y ponlas en una vasija de barro, para que se conserven muchos días.

15 Porque así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: Aún se comprarán casas, heredades y viñas en esta tierra. 16 Y después que di la carta de venta a Baruc hijo de Nerías, oré a Jehová, diciendo: 17 ¡Oh Señor Jehová! he aquí que tú hiciste el cielo y la tierra con tu gran poder, y con tu brazo extendido, ni hay nada que sea difícil para ti; 18 que haces misericordia a millares, y castigas la maldad de los padres en sus hijos después de ellos; Dios grande, poderoso, Jehová de los ejércitos es su nombre; 19 grande en consejo, y magnífico en hechos; porque tus ojos están abiertos sobre todos los caminos de los hijos de los hombres, para dar a cada uno según sus caminos, y según el fruto de sus obras. 20 Tú hiciste señales y portentos en tierra de Egipto hasta este día, y en Israel, y entre los hombres; y te has hecho nombre, como se ve en el día de hoy. 21 Y sacaste a tu pueblo Israel de la tierra de Egipto con señales y portentos, con mano fuerte y brazo extendido, y con terror grande; 22 y les diste esta tierra, de la cual juraste a sus padres que se la darías, la tierra que fluye leche y miel; 23 y entraron, y la disfrutaron; pero no oyeron tu voz, ni anduvieron en tu ley; nada hicieron de lo que les mandaste hacer; por tanto, has hecho venir sobre ellos todo este mal. 24 He aquí que con arietes han acometido la ciudad para tomarla, y la ciudad va a ser entregada en mano de los caldeos que pelean contra ella, a causa de la espada, del hambre y de la pestilencia; ha venido, pues, a suceder lo que tú dijiste, y he aquí lo estás viendo. 25 ¡Oh Señor Jehová! ¿y tú me has dicho: Cómprate la heredad por dinero, y pon testigos; aunque la ciudad sea entregada en manos de los caldeos?

26 Y vino palabra de Jehová a Jeremías, diciendo: 27 He aquí que yo soy Jehová, Dios de toda carne; ¿habrá algo que sea difícil para mí? 28 Por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí voy a entregar esta ciudad en mano de los caldeos, y en mano de Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia, y la tomará.(B) 29 Y vendrán los caldeos que atacan esta ciudad, y la pondrán a fuego y la quemarán, asimismo las casas sobre cuyas azoteas ofrecieron incienso a Baal y derramaron libaciones a dioses ajenos, para provocarme a ira. 30 Porque los hijos de Israel y los hijos de Judá no han hecho sino lo malo delante de mis ojos desde su juventud; porque los hijos de Israel no han hecho más que provocarme a ira con la obra de sus manos, dice Jehová. 31 De tal manera que para enojo mío y para ira mía me ha sido esta ciudad desde el día que la edificaron hasta hoy, para que la haga quitar de mi presencia, 32 por toda la maldad de los hijos de Israel y de los hijos de Judá, que han hecho para enojarme, ellos, sus reyes, sus príncipes, sus sacerdotes y sus profetas, y los varones de Judá y los moradores de Jerusalén. 33 Y me volvieron la cerviz, y no el rostro; y cuando los enseñaba desde temprano y sin cesar, no escucharon para recibir corrección. 34 Antes pusieron sus abominaciones en la casa en la cual es invocado mi nombre, contaminándola.(C) 35 Y edificaron lugares altos a Baal, los cuales están en el valle del hijo de Hinom,(D) para hacer pasar por el fuego sus hijos y sus hijas a Moloc;(E) lo cual no les mandé, ni me vino al pensamiento que hiciesen esta abominación, para hacer pecar a Judá.

36 Y con todo, ahora así dice Jehová Dios de Israel a esta ciudad, de la cual decís vosotros: Entregada será en mano del rey de Babilonia a espada, a hambre y a pestilencia: 37 He aquí que yo los reuniré de todas las tierras a las cuales los eché con mi furor, y con mi enojo e indignación grande; y los haré volver a este lugar, y los haré habitar seguramente; 38 y me serán por pueblo, y yo seré a ellos por Dios. 39 Y les daré un corazón, y un camino, para que me teman perpetuamente, para que tengan bien ellos, y sus hijos después de ellos. 40 Y haré con ellos pacto eterno, que no me volveré atrás de hacerles bien, y pondré mi temor en el corazón de ellos, para que no se aparten de mí. 41 Y me alegraré con ellos haciéndoles bien, y los plantaré en esta tierra en verdad, de todo mi corazón y de toda mi alma.

42 Porque así ha dicho Jehová: Como traje sobre este pueblo todo este gran mal, así traeré sobre ellos todo el bien que acerca de ellos hablo. 43 Y poseerán heredad en esta tierra de la cual vosotros decís: Está desierta, sin hombres y sin animales, es entregada en manos de los caldeos. 44 Heredades comprarán por dinero, y harán escritura y la sellarán y pondrán testigos, en tierra de Benjamín y en los contornos de Jerusalén, y en las ciudades de Judá; y en las ciudades de las montañas, y en las ciudades de la Sefela, y en las ciudades del Neguev; porque yo haré regresar sus cautivos, dice Jehová.

Restauración de la prosperidad de Jerusalén

33 Vino palabra de Jehová a Jeremías la segunda vez, estando él aún preso en el patio de la cárcel, diciendo: 2 Así ha dicho Jehová, que hizo la tierra, Jehová que la formó para afirmarla; Jehová es su nombre: 3 Clama a mí, y yo te responderé, y te enseñaré cosas grandes y ocultas que tú no conoces. 4 Porque así ha dicho Jehová Dios de Israel acerca de las casas de esta ciudad, y de las casas de los reyes de Judá, derribadas con arietes y con hachas 5 (porque vinieron para pelear contra los caldeos, para llenarlas de cuerpos de hombres muertos, a los cuales herí yo con mi furor y con mi ira, pues escondí mi rostro de esta ciudad a causa de toda su maldad): 6 He aquí que yo les traeré sanidad y medicina; y los curaré, y les revelaré abundancia de paz y de verdad. 7 Y haré volver los cautivos de Judá y los cautivos de Israel, y los restableceré como al principio. 8 Y los limpiaré de toda su maldad con que pecaron contra mí; y perdonaré todos sus pecados con que contra mí pecaron, y con que contra mí se rebelaron. 9 Y me será a mí por nombre de gozo, de alabanza y de gloria, entre todas las naciones de la tierra, que habrán oído todo el bien que yo les hago; y temerán y temblarán de todo el bien y de toda la paz que yo les haré.

10 Así ha dicho Jehová: En este lugar, del cual decís que está desierto sin hombres y sin animales, en las ciudades de Judá y en las calles de Jerusalén, que están asoladas, sin hombre y sin morador y sin animal, 11 ha de oírse aún voz de gozo y de alegría, voz de desposado y voz de desposada, voz de los que digan: Alabad a Jehová de los ejércitos, porque Jehová es bueno, porque para siempre es su misericordia;(F) voz de los que traigan ofrendas de acción de gracias a la casa de Jehová. Porque volveré a traer los cautivos de la tierra como al principio, ha dicho Jehová.

12 Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos: En este lugar desierto, sin hombre y sin animal, y en todas sus ciudades, aún habrá cabañas de pastores que hagan pastar sus ganados. 13 En las ciudades de las montañas, en las ciudades de la Sefela, en las ciudades del Neguev, en la tierra de Benjamín, y alrededor de Jerusalén y en las ciudades de Judá, aún pasarán ganados por las manos del que los cuente, ha dicho Jehová.

14 He aquí vienen días, dice Jehová, en que yo confirmaré la buena palabra que he hablado a la casa de Israel y a la casa de Judá. 15 En aquellos días y en aquel tiempo haré brotar a David un Renuevo de justicia, y hará juicio y justicia en la tierra. 16 En aquellos días Judá será salvo, y Jerusalén habitará segura, y se le llamará: Jehová, justicia nuestra.(G)

17 Porque así ha dicho Jehová: No faltará a David varón que se siente sobre el trono de la casa de Israel.(H) 18 Ni a los sacerdotes y levitas faltará varón que delante de mí ofrezca holocausto y encienda ofrenda, y que haga sacrificio todos los días.(I)

19 Vino palabra de Jehová a Jeremías, diciendo: 20 Así ha dicho Jehová: Si pudiereis invalidar mi pacto con el día y mi pacto con la noche, de tal manera que no haya día ni noche a su tiempo, 21 podrá también invalidarse mi pacto con mi siervo David, para que deje de tener hijo que reine sobre su trono, y mi pacto con los levitas y sacerdotes, mis ministros. 22 Como no puede ser contado el ejército del cielo, ni la arena del mar se puede medir, así multiplicaré la descendencia de David mi siervo, y los levitas que me sirven.

23 Vino palabra de Jehová a Jeremías, diciendo: 24 ¿No has echado de ver lo que habla este pueblo, diciendo: Dos familias que Jehová escogiera ha desechado? Y han tenido en poco a mi pueblo, hasta no tenerlo más por nación. 25 Así ha dicho Jehová: Si no permanece mi pacto con el día y la noche, si yo no he puesto las leyes del cielo y la tierra, 26 también desecharé la descendencia de Jacob, y de David mi siervo, para no tomar de su descendencia quien sea señor sobre la posteridad de Abraham, de Isaac y de Jacob. Porque haré volver sus cautivos, y tendré de ellos misericordia.

Jeremiah Imprisoned

32 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord in the (A)tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar. 2 Now at that time the army of the king of Babylon was besieging Jerusalem, and Jeremiah the prophet was imprisoned in the (B)courtyard of the guard, which was at the house of the king of Judah, 3 because Zedekiah king of Judah had (C)imprisoned him, saying, “Why do you (D)prophesy, saying, ‘(E)This is what the Lord says: “Behold, I am going to (F)hand this city over to the king of Babylon, and he will take it; 4 and Zedekiah king of Judah will (G)not escape from the hand of the Chaldeans, but he will certainly be handed over to the king of Babylon, and he will (H)speak with him [a]face to face and see him eye to eye. 5 Then he will (I)take Zedekiah to Babylon, and he will be there until I visit him,” declares the Lord. “If you fight against the Chaldeans, you will (J)not succeed”’?”

6 And Jeremiah said, “The word of the Lord came to me, saying, 7 ‘Behold, Hanamel the son of Shallum your uncle is coming to you, saying, “Buy for yourself my field which is at (K)Anathoth, for you have the (L)right of redemption to buy it.”’ 8 Then my uncle’s son Hanamel came to me in the (M)courtyard of the guard in accordance with the word of the Lord and said to me, ‘Buy my field, please, that is at (N)Anathoth, which is in the land of Benjamin; for you have the right of possession and the redemption is yours; buy it for yourself.’ Then I knew that this was the (O)word of the Lord.

9 “So I bought the field which was in Anathoth from Hanamel my uncle’s son, and I (P)weighed out the silver for him, seventeen (Q)shekels of silver. 10 And I [b](R)signed and (S)sealed the deed, and (T)called in witnesses, and weighed out the silver on the scales. 11 Then I took the deeds of purchase, both the sealed copy containing the (U)terms and conditions and the open copy; 12 and I gave the deed of purchase to (V)Baruch the son of (W)Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the sight of Hanamel my uncle’s son and in the sight of the witnesses who signed the deed of purchase, in the sight of all the Jews who were sitting in the courtyard of the guard. 13 And I commanded Baruch in their sight, saying, 14 ‘This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says: “Take these deeds, this sealed deed of purchase and this open deed, and put them in an earthenware jar, so that they may [c]last a long time.” 15 For this is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says: “(X)Houses and fields and vineyards will again be purchased in this land.”’

Jeremiah Prays and God Explains

16 “After giving the deed of purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, I (Y)prayed to the Lord, saying, 17 ‘(Z)Oh, Lord [d]God! Behold, You Yourself have (AA)made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! (AB)Nothing is too difficult for You, 18 who (AC)shows mercy to thousands, but (AD)repays the wrongdoing of fathers into the laps of their children after them, (AE)great and (AF)mighty God. The (AG)Lord of armies is His name; 19 (AH)great in counsel and mighty in deed, whose (AI)eyes are open to all the ways of the sons of mankind, (AJ)giving to everyone according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds; 20 who has (AK)accomplished signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, and even to this day both in Israel and among mankind; and You have (AL)made a name for Yourself, as at this day. 21 You (AM)brought Your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs and with wonders, and with a strong hand and an outstretched arm, and with great terror; 22 and You gave them this land, which You (AN)swore to their forefathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey. 23 They (AO)came in and took possession of it, but they (AP)did not obey Your voice or (AQ)walk in Your Law; they did not do [e]anything that You commanded them to do; therefore You have made (AR)all this disaster happen to them. 24 Behold, the (AS)assault ramps have reached the city to take it; and the city has been (AT)handed over to the Chaldeans who fight against it, because of the (AU)sword, the famine, and the plague; and what You have spoken has (AV)come to pass; and behold, You see it. 25 Yet You have said to me, Lord [f]God, “Buy for yourself the field with money and call in witnesses”—although the city has been handed over to the Chaldeans.’”

26 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying, 27 “Behold, I am the Lord, the (AW)God of all flesh; is anything (AX)too difficult for Me?” 28 Therefore this is what the Lord says: “Behold, I am going to (AY)hand this city over to the Chaldeans and to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he will take it. 29 And the Chaldeans who are fighting against this city will enter and (AZ)set this city on fire and burn it, with the (BA)houses where people have offered incense to Baal on their roofs and poured out drink offerings to other gods, to provoke Me to anger. 30 For the sons of Israel and the sons of Judah have been doing only (BB)evil in My sight since their youth; for the sons of Israel have been only (BC)provoking Me to anger by the work of their hands,” declares the Lord. 31 “Indeed this city has been to Me a (BD)provocation of My anger and My wrath since the day that they built it, even to this day, so that it should be (BE)removed from My sight, 32 because of all the evil of the sons of Israel and the sons of Judah which they have done to provoke Me to anger—they, their (BF)kings, their leaders, their priests, their prophets, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 33 They have turned their back to Me and not their face; though I taught them, (BG)teaching again and again, they would not listen to accept discipline. 34 But they (BH)put their detestable things in the house which is called by My name, to defile it. 35 They built the (BI)high places of Baal that are in the Valley of Ben-hinnom to make their sons and their daughters pass through the fire to (BJ)Molech, which I had not commanded them, nor had it [g]entered My mind that they should do this abomination, to mislead Judah to sin.

36 “Now therefore the Lord God of Israel says the following concerning this city of which you say, ‘It has been (BK)handed over to the king of Babylon by sword, by famine, and by plague’: 37 Behold, I am going to (BL)gather them out of all the lands to which I have driven them in My anger, in My wrath, and in great indignation; and I will bring them back to this place and (BM)have them live in safety. 38 They shall be (BN)My people, and I will be their God; 39 and I will (BO)give them one heart and one way, so that they will fear Me always, for their own (BP)good and for the good of their children after them. 40 I will make an (BQ)everlasting covenant with them that I will (BR)not turn away from them, to do them good; and I will (BS)put the fear of Me in their hearts, so that they will not turn away from Me. 41 I will (BT)rejoice over them to do them good and will [h]faithfully (BU)plant them in this land with (BV)all My heart and all My soul. 42 For this is what the Lord says: ‘(BW)Just as I brought all this great disaster on this people, so I am going to (BX)bring on them all the good that I am promising them. 43 And (BY)fields will be purchased in this land of which you say, “(BZ)It is a desolation, without man or animal; it has been handed over to the Chaldeans.” 44 People will buy fields for money, [i](CA)sign and seal [j]deeds, and call in witnesses in the (CB)land of Benjamin, in the areas surrounding Jerusalem, in the cities of Judah, in the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the [k]Negev; for I will (CC)restore their fortunes,’ declares the Lord.”

Restoration Promised

33 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the second time, while he was still (CD)confined in the courtyard of the guard, saying, 2 “This is what (CE)the Lord says, He who made [l]the earth, the Lord who formed it to create it, He whose name is the (CF)Lord: 3 ‘(CG)Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you (CH)great and [m]mighty things, (CI)which you do not know.’ 4 For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel says concerning the (CJ)houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah which have been torn down to make a defense against the (CK)assault ramps and the sword: 5 ‘While they are coming to (CL)fight the Chaldeans and to fill [n]their houses with the bodies of people whom I have struck down in My anger and My wrath, and I have (CM)hidden My face from this city because of all their wickedness: 6 Behold, I am going to bring to it (CN)healing and a remedy, and I will heal them; and I will reveal to them an (CO)abundance of peace and truth. 7 And I will (CP)restore the fortunes of Judah and the fortunes of Israel, and will (CQ)rebuild them as they were at first. 8 And I will (CR)cleanse them from all their wrongdoing by which they have sinned against Me, and I will forgive all their wrongdoings by which they have sinned against Me and revolted against Me. 9 [o]It will be to Me a (CS)name of joy, praise, and glory before (CT)all the nations of the earth, which will hear of all the (CU)good that I do for them, and they will be (CV)frightened and tremble because of all the good and all the peace that I make for it.’

10 “This is what the Lord says: ‘Yet again there will be heard in this place, of which you say, “It is a (CW)waste, without man and without animal,” that is, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem that are (CX)deserted, without man and without inhabitant and without animal, 11 the voice of (CY)joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the groom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who say,

“(CZ)Give thanks to the Lord of armies,
For the Lord is good,
For His mercy is everlasting,”

as they bring a (DA)thanksgiving offering into the house of the Lord. For I will restore the fortunes of the land as they were at first,’ says the Lord.

12 “This is what the Lord of armies says: ‘There will again be in this place which is waste, (DB)without man or animal, and in all its cities, a pasture for shepherds who rest their (DC)flocks. 13 In the (DD)cities of the hill country, in the cities of the lowland, in the cities of the Negev, in the land of Benjamin, in the areas surrounding Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, the flocks will again (DE)pass under the hands of the one who counts them,’ says the Lord.

The Davidic Kingdom

14 ‘Behold, (DF)days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will (DG)fulfill the good word which I have spoken concerning the house of Israel and the house of Judah. 15 In those days and at that time I will make a (DH)righteous Branch of David sprout; and He shall execute (DI)justice and righteousness on the earth. 16 In those days (DJ)Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety; and this is the name by which it will be called: the (DK)Lord is our righteousness.’ 17 For this is what the Lord says: ‘[p]David shall (DL)not lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel; 18 [q]and the (DM)Levitical priests shall not lack a man before Me to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings, and to (DN)prepare sacrifices [r]continually.’”

19 And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying, 20 “This is what the Lord says: ‘If you can (DO)break My covenant for the day and My covenant for the night, so that day and night do not occur at their proper time, 21 then (DP)My covenant with David My servant may also be broken, so that he will not have a son to reign on his throne, and with the Levitical priests, My ministers. 22 As the (DQ)heavenly [s]lights cannot be counted, and the (DR)sand of the sea cannot be measured, so I will (DS)multiply the [t]descendants of My servant David and the (DT)Levites who serve Me.’”

23 And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying, 24 “Have you not observed what these people have asserted, saying, ‘The (DU)two families which the Lord chose, He has (DV)rejected them’? So they (DW)despise My people as no longer being a nation [u]in their sight. 25 This is what the Lord says: ‘If My (DX)covenant for day and night does not continue, and I have (DY)not established the [v]fixed patterns of heaven and earth, 26 then I would (DZ)reject the [w]descendants of Jacob and David My servant, so as not to take from his [x]descendants (EA)rulers over the [y]descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But I will (EB)restore their fortunes and have (EC)mercy on them.’”

Profecía contra Tiro

26 Aconteció en el undécimo año, en el día primero del mes, que vino a mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo: 2 Hijo de hombre, por cuanto dijo Tiro(A) contra Jerusalén: Ea, bien; quebrantada está la que era puerta de las naciones; a mí se volvió; yo seré llena, y ella desierta; 3 por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová el Señor: He aquí yo estoy contra ti, oh Tiro, y haré subir contra ti muchas naciones, como el mar hace subir sus olas. 4 Y demolerán los muros de Tiro, y derribarán sus torres; y barreré de ella hasta su polvo, y la dejaré como una peña lisa. 5 Tendedero de redes será en medio del mar, porque yo he hablado, dice Jehová el Señor; y será saqueada por las naciones. 6 Y sus hijas que están en el campo serán muertas a espada; y sabrán que yo soy Jehová.

7 Porque así ha dicho Jehová el Señor: He aquí que del norte traigo yo contra Tiro a Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia, rey de reyes, con caballos y carros y jinetes, y tropas y mucho pueblo. 8 Matará a espada a tus hijas que están en el campo, y pondrá contra ti torres de sitio, y levantará contra ti baluarte, y escudo afirmará contra ti. 9 Y pondrá contra ti arietes, contra tus muros, y tus torres destruirá con hachas. 10 Por la multitud de sus caballos te cubrirá el polvo de ellos; con el estruendo de su caballería y de las ruedas y de los carros, temblarán tus muros, cuando entre por tus puertas como por portillos de ciudad destruida. 11 Con los cascos de sus caballos hollará todas tus calles; a tu pueblo matará a filo de espada, y tus fuertes columnas caerán a tierra. 12 Y robarán tus riquezas y saquearán tus mercaderías; arruinarán tus muros, y tus casas preciosas destruirán; y pondrán tus piedras y tu madera y tu polvo en medio de las aguas. 13 Y haré cesar el estrépito de tus canciones, y no se oirá más el son de tus cítaras.(B) 14 Y te pondré como una peña lisa; tendedero de redes serás, y nunca más serás edificada; porque yo Jehová he hablado, dice Jehová el Señor.

Judgment on Tyre

26 Now in the eleventh year, on the first of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 2 “Son of man, because (A)Tyre has said in regard to Jerusalem, ‘Aha! The (B)gateway of the peoples is broken; it has [a](C)opened to me. I shall be filled, now that she is laid waste,’ 3 therefore this is what the Lord [b]God says: ‘Behold, I am against you, Tyre, and I will bring up (D)many nations against you, as the (E)sea brings up its waves. 4 They will (F)destroy the walls of Tyre and tear down her towers; and I will sweep her debris away from her and make her a bare rock. 5 She will become a dry place for the spreading of nets in the midst of the sea, for I have spoken,’ declares the Lord God; ‘and she will become (G)plunder for the nations. 6 Also her (H)daughters who are [c]on the mainland will be killed by the sword, and they will know that I am the Lord.’”

7 For the Lord God says this: “Behold, I am going to bring upon Tyre from the north Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, (I)king of kings, with horses, (J)chariots, cavalry, and [d]a great army. 8 He will kill your daughters [e]on the mainland with the sword; and he will make (K)siege walls against you, pile up an (L)assault ramp against you, and raise up a large shield against you. 9 And he will direct the blow of his battering rams against your walls, and he will tear down your towers with his [f]axes. 10 Because of the multitude of his (M)horses, the dust raised by them will cover you; your walls will (N)shake from the noise of cavalry, [g]wagons, and chariots when he (O)enters your gates as warriors enter a city that is breached. 11 With the hoofs of his (P)horses he will trample all your streets. He will kill your people with the sword, and your strong [h]pillars will (Q)go down to the ground. 12 Also they will take your riches as spoils and plunder your (R)merchandise, (S)tear down your walls and destroy your (T)delightful houses, and [i]throw your stones, your timbers, and your debris (U)into the water. 13 So I will put an end to the sound of your (V)songs, and the sound of your (W)harps will no longer be heard. 14 I will turn you into a bare rock; you will become a dry place for the spreading of nets. You will not be (X)rebuilt, for I the (Y)Lord have spoken,” declares the Lord God.
