This is what the Lord of armies says:
“They will (A)thoroughly glean the (B)remnant of Israel like the vine;
Pass your hand over the branches again
Like a grape gatherer.”
10 To whom shall I speak and give warning,
That they may hear?
Behold, their (C)ears are [a]closed
And they cannot listen.
Behold, (D)the word of the Lord has become for them a rebuke;
They take no delight in it.
11 But I am (E)full of the wrath of the Lord;
I am (F)weary of holding it in.
(G)Pour it out on the children in the street
And on the [b]gathering of young men together;
For both husband and wife shall be taken,
The old [c]and the very old.
12 Their (H)houses shall be turned over to others,
Their fields and their wives together;
For I will (I)stretch out My hand
Against the inhabitants of the land,” declares the Lord.
13 “For (J)from the least of them to the greatest of them,
Everyone is (K)greedy for gain,
And from the prophet to the priest
Everyone deals falsely.
14 They have (L)healed the brokenness of My people superficially,
Saying, ‘Peace, peace,’
But there is no peace.
15 Were they (M)ashamed because of the abomination they had done?
They were not ashamed at all,
Nor did they know even how to be ashamed.
Therefore they will fall among those who fall;
At the time that I punish them,
They will collapse,” says the Lord.

The Body Is the Lord’s

12 (A)All things are permitted for me, but not all things are of benefit. All things are permitted for me, but I will not be mastered by anything. 13 (B)Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, however God will (C)do away with both [a]of them. But the body is not for sexual immorality, but (D)for the Lord, and (E)the Lord is for the body. 14 Now God has not only (F)raised the Lord, but (G)will also raise us up through His power. 15 (H)Do you not know that (I)your bodies are parts of Christ? Shall I then take away the parts of Christ and make them parts of a prostitute? [b](J)Far from it! 16 Or (K)do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body with her? For He says, “(L)The two shall become one flesh.” 17 But the one who joins himself to the Lord is (M)one spirit with Him. 18 (N)Flee sexual immorality. Every other sin that a person commits is outside the body, but the [c]sexually immoral person sins against his own body. 19 Or (O)do you not know that (P)your body is a [d]temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from [e]God, and that (Q)you are not your own? 20 For (R)you have been bought for a price: therefore glorify God in (S)your body.

The Demon-possessed Man Cured

(A)They came to the other side of the sea, into the region of the Gerasenes. When He got out of (B)the boat, immediately a man from the tombs (C)with an unclean spirit met Him. He lived among the tombs; and no one was able to bind him anymore, not even with a chain, because he had often been bound with shackles and chains, and the chains had been torn apart by him and the shackles broken in pieces; and no one was strong enough to subdue him. Constantly, night and day, he was screaming among the tombs and in the mountains, and cutting himself with stones. Seeing Jesus from a distance, he ran up and bowed down before Him; and shouting with a loud voice, he *said, “[a](D)What business do You have with me, Jesus, (E)Son of (F)the Most High God? I implore You by God, do not torment me!” For He had already been saying to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” And He was asking him, “What is your name?” And he *said to Him, “My name is (G)Legion, for we are many.” 10 And he begged Him earnestly not to send them out of the region. 11 Now there was a large herd of pigs feeding [b]nearby on the mountain. 12 And the demons begged Him, saying, “Send us into the pigs so that we may enter them.” 13 Jesus gave them permission. And coming out, the unclean spirits entered the pigs; and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea, about two thousand of them; and they were drowned in the sea.

14 Their herdsmen ran away and reported it in the city and in the countryside. And the people came to see what it was that had happened. 15 And then they *came to Jesus and *saw the man who had been (H)demon-possessed sitting down, (I)clothed and (J)in his right mind, the very man who had previously had the “(K)legion”; and they became frightened. 16 Those who had seen it described to them how it had happened to the (L)demon-possessed man, and all about the pigs. 17 And they began to (M)beg Him to leave their region. 18 (N)And as He was getting into the boat, the man who had been (O)demon-possessed was begging Him that he might [c]accompany Him. 19 And He did not let him, but He *said to him, (P)Go home to your people and report to them [d]what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He had mercy on you.” 20 And he went away and began to (Q)proclaim in (R)Decapolis [e]what great things Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed.
