“That I will cause to be heard an alarm of war

It shall be a desolate mound,
And her [a]villages shall be burned with fire.
Then Israel shall take possession of his inheritance,” says the Lord.

“Wail, O (C)Heshbon, for Ai is plundered!
Cry, you daughters of Rabbah,
(D)Gird yourselves with sackcloth!
Lament and run to and fro by the walls;
For [b]Milcom shall go into captivity
With his (E)priests and his princes together.
Why (F)do you boast in the valleys,
[c]Your flowing valley, O (G)backsliding daughter?
Who trusted in her (H)treasures, (I)saying,
‘Who will come against me?’

Put on sackcloth(G) and mourn;
    rush here and there inside the walls,
for Molek(H) will go into exile,(I)
    together with his priests and officials.
Why do you boast of your valleys,
    boast of your valleys so fruitful?
Unfaithful Daughter Ammon,(J)
    you trust in your riches(K) and say,
    ‘Who will attack me?’(L)
