12 Then the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying, 13 “Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, ‘I (A)cut a covenant with your fathers in the day that I (B)brought them out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery, saying, 14 “(C)At the end of seven years each of you shall let his Hebrew brother go who [a]has been sold to you and has served you six years, and you shall let him go to be free from you; but your fathers (D)did not obey Me or incline their ear to Me.

12 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: 13 “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I made a covenant with your ancestors(A) when I brought them out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.(B) I said, 14 ‘Every seventh year each of you must free any fellow Hebrews who have sold themselves to you. After they have served you six years, you must let them go free.’[a](C) Your ancestors, however, did not listen to me or pay attention(D) to me.
