Jeremiah 31:2-4

2 Thus says Yahweh,

“The people who survived the sword
(A)Found grace in the wilderness—
Israel, when it went to (B)find its relief.”
3 Yahweh appeared to [a]him from afar, saying,
“I have (C)loved you with an everlasting love;
Therefore I have drawn you with (D)lovingkindness.
4 (E)Again I will build you, and you will be rebuilt,
O virgin of Israel!
Again you will [b]take up your (F)tambourines
And go forth to the dances of those (G)celebrating.

2 This is what the Lord says:

“The people who survive the sword
    will find favor(A) in the wilderness;
    I will come to give rest(B) to Israel.”

3 The Lord appeared to us in the past,[a] saying:

“I have loved(C) you with an everlasting love;
    I have drawn(D) you with unfailing kindness.
4 I will build you up again,
    and you, Virgin(E) Israel, will be rebuilt.(F)
Again you will take up your timbrels(G)
    and go out to dance(H) with the joyful.(I)
