11 [a]This is what you shall say to them: “The (A)gods that did not make the heavens and the earth will (B)perish from the earth and from under these heavens.”

12 It is (C)He who made the earth by His power,
Who (D)established the world by His wisdom;
And by His understanding He has (E)stretched out the heavens.
13 When He utters His (F)voice, there is a roar of waters in the heavens,
And He makes the (G)clouds ascend from the end of the earth;
He makes lightning for the rain,
And brings out the (H)wind from His storehouses.
14 Every person is (I)stupid, devoid of knowledge;
Every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols,
For his cast metal images are deceitful,
And there is no breath in them.
15 They are (J)worthless, a work of mockery;
At the (K)time of their punishment they will perish.
16 The (L)Portion of Jacob is not like these;
For He is the [b](M)Maker of everything,
And (N)Israel is the tribe of His inheritance;
The (O)Lord of armies is His name.

17 (P)Pick up your bundle from the ground,
You who live under siege!
18 For this is what the Lord says:
“Behold, I am (Q)slinging out the inhabitants of the land
At this time,
And I will cause them distress,
So that they may [c]be found.”

19 (R)Woe to me, because of my [d]injury!
My (S)wound is incurable.
But I said, “This certainly is a sickness,
And I (T)must endure it.”
20 My (U)tent is destroyed,
And all my ropes are broken.
My (V)sons have gone from me and are no more.
There is (W)no one to stretch out my tent again
Or to set up my curtains.
21 For the shepherds have become stupid
And (X)have not sought the Lord.
Therefore they have not prospered,
And (Y)all their flock is scattered.
22 The sound of a (Z)report! Behold, it is coming—
A great roar (AA)from the land of the north—
To (AB)make the cities of Judah
A desolation, a haunt of jackals.

23 I know, Lord, that (AC)a person’s way is not in himself,
(AD)Nor is it in a person who walks to direct his steps.
24 (AE)Correct me, Lord, but with justice;
Not with Your anger, or You will [e]bring me to nothing.

12 Therefore, just as through (A)one man sin entered into the world, and (B)death through sin, and (C)so death spread to all mankind, because all sinned— 13 for [a]until the Law sin was in the world, but (D)sin is not [b]counted against anyone when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned (E)in the likeness of the [c]violation committed by Adam, who is a [d](F)type of Him who was to come.

15 But [e]the gracious gift is not like the offense. For if by the offense of (G)the one (H)the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by (I)the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many. 16 The gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned; for on the one hand (J)the judgment arose from one offense, [f]resulting in condemnation, but on the other hand the gracious gift arose from many offenses, [g]resulting in justification. 17 For if by the offense of the one, death reigned (K)through the one, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness (L)reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

18 So then, as through (M)one offense [h]the result was condemnation to all mankind, so also through one (N)act of righteousness [i]the result was (O)justification of life to all mankind. 19 For as through the one man’s disobedience (P)the many (Q)were made sinners, so also through (R)the obedience of the One (S)the many will be made righteous. 20 [j](T)The Law came in so that the offense would increase; but where sin increased, (U)grace abounded all the more, 21 so that, as (V)sin reigned in death, so also (W)grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

21 Then He said again to them, “I am going away, and (A)you will look for Me, and (B)will die in your sin; where I am going, you cannot come.” 22 So (C)the Jews were saying, “Surely He will not kill Himself, will He, since He says, (D)Where I am going, you cannot come’?” 23 And He was saying to them, (E)You are from below, I am from above; (F)you are of this world, (G)I am not of this world. 24 Therefore I said to you that you (H)will die in your sins; for unless you believe that [a](I)I am, (J)you will die in your sins.” 25 Then they were saying to Him, “Who are You?” Jesus said to them, [b]What have I even been saying to you from the beginning? 26 I have many things to say and to judge regarding you, but (K)He who sent Me is true; and (L)the things which I heard from Him, these I say to the world.” 27 They did not realize that He was speaking to them about the Father. 28 So Jesus said, “When you (M)lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that [c](N)I am, and (O)I do nothing [d]on My own, but I say these things as the Father instructed Me. 29 And He who sent Me is with Me; (P)He [e]has not left Me alone, for (Q)I always do the things that are pleasing to Him.” 30 As He said these things, (R)many came to believe in Him.

The Truth Will Set You Free

31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, (S)If you continue in My word, then you are truly My (T)disciples; 32 and (U)you will know the truth, and (V)the truth will set you free.”
