James 2:21-23

²¹^(A)Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? ²²You see that ^(B)faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed ^(C)by his works; ²³and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, ^(D)“Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a ^(E)friend of God.

²¹Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?^(A) ²²You see that his faith and his actions were working together,^(B) and his faith was made complete by what he did.^(C) ²³And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,”^[a]^(D) and he was called God’s friend.^(E)
