³ “I have trodden the winepress^(A) alone;
    from the nations no one was with me.
I trampled^(B) them in my anger
    and trod them down in my wrath;^(C)
their blood spattered my garments,^(D)
    and I stained all my clothing.
⁴ It was for me the day of vengeance;^(E)
    the year for me to redeem had come.
⁵ I looked, but there was no one^(F) to help,
    I was appalled that no one gave support;
so my own arm^(G) achieved salvation for me,
    and my own wrath sustained me.^(H)
6 I trampled^(I) the nations in my anger;
    in my wrath I made them drunk^(J)
    and poured their blood^(K) on the ground.”

¹¹ I will punish^(A) the world for its evil,
    the wicked^(B) for their sins.
I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty^(C)
    and will humble^(D) the pride of the ruthless.^(E)

⁶ Therefore a curse^(A) consumes the earth;
    its people must bear their guilt.
Therefore earth’s inhabitants are burned up,^(B)
    and very few are left.

⁴ The earth dries up^(J) and withers,^(K)
    the world languishes and withers,
    the heavens^(L) languish with the earth.^(M)
5 The earth is defiled^(N) by its people;
    they have disobeyed^(O) the laws,
violated the statutes
    and broken the everlasting covenant.^(P)
6 Therefore a curse^(Q) consumes the earth;
    its people must bear their guilt.
Therefore earth’s inhabitants are burned up,^(R)
    and very few are left.

³¹ The tumult^(A) will resound to the ends of the earth,
    for the Lord will bring charges^(B) against the nations;
he will bring judgment^(C) on all^(D) mankind
    and put the wicked to the sword,^(E)’”
declares the Lord.

“Look! Disaster^(F) is spreading
    from nation to nation;^(G)
a mighty storm^(H) is rising
    from the ends of the earth.”^(I)

¹¹ But now many nations
    are gathered against you.
They say, “Let her be defiled,
    let our eyes gloat^(A) over Zion!”
¹² But they do not know
    the thoughts of the Lord;
they do not understand his plan,^(B)
    that he has gathered them like sheaves to the threshing floor.
¹³ “Rise and thresh,^(C) Daughter Zion,
    for I will give you horns of iron;
I will give you hooves of bronze,
    and you will break to pieces many nations.”^(D)
You will devote their ill-gotten gains to the Lord,^(E)
    their wealth to the Lord of all the earth.
