Yahweh Will Establish Peace

26 (A)In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah:

“We have a (B)strong city;
He sets up walls and ramparts for (C)salvation.
Open the (D)gates, that the (E)righteous nation may enter,
The one that keeps faithfulness.
The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect (F)peace
Because he trusts in You.
(G)Trust in Yahweh forever,
For in Yah—Yahweh Himselfwe have an everlasting (H)Rock.
For He has laid low those who settle on high, the [a](I)exalted city;
(J)He brings it low, He brings it low to the ground, He casts it to the dust.
(K)The foot will trample it,
The feet of the (L)afflicted, the steps of the poor.”

The (M)way of the righteous is upright;
O Upright One, (N)make the path of the righteous level.
Indeed, while following the way of (O)Your judgments, O Yahweh,
We have hoped for You eagerly;
(P)Your name—the (Q)memory of You—is the desire of our souls.
(R)At night [b]my soul longs for You,
Indeed, [c]my spirit within me (S)seeks You earnestly;
For when the earth [d]experiences Your judgments,
The inhabitants of the world (T)learn righteousness.
10 Though the wicked is shown favor,
He does not (U)learn righteousness;
He (V)deals unjustly in the land of uprightness,
And does not perceive the majesty of Yahweh.

11 O Yahweh, Your hand is raised up high, yet they (W)do not behold it.
[e]They behold (X)Your zeal for the people and are put to shame;
Indeed, [f](Y)fire will devour Your adversaries.
12 Yahweh, You will establish (Z)peace for us,
Since You have also performed for us all our works.
13 O Yahweh our God, (AA)other masters besides You have ruled us;
But through You alone we (AB)bring Your name to remembrance.
14 (AC)The dead will not live; the [g]departed spirits will not rise;
Therefore You have (AD)visited and destroyed them,
And You have made all remembrance of them perish.
15 (AE)You have increased the nation, O Yahweh;
You have increased the nation, You are glorified;
You have (AF)extended all the borders of the land.
16 O Yahweh, they visited You (AG)in distress;
They [h]could only whisper a prayer;
Your chastening was upon them.
17 (AH)As the [i]woman with child draws near to the time to give birth,
She writhes and cries out in her pangs of labor,
Thus were we before You, O Yahweh.
18 We were [j]with child, we writhed in labor;
We (AI)gave birth, as it seems, only to wind.
We could not accomplish salvation for the earth,
And the (AJ)inhabitants of the world [k]were not born.
19 Your (AK)dead will live;
[l]Their corpses will rise.
You who dwell in the dust, (AL)awake and shout for joy,
For your dew is as the dew of the [m]dawn,
And the earth will [n]give birth to the [o]departed spirits.

20 Come, my people, (AM)enter into your rooms
And close your doors behind you;
Hide for a little [p](AN)while
Until (AO)indignation passes by.
21 For behold, Yahweh is about to (AP)come out from His place
To (AQ)visit the iniquity of the inhabitants of the earth;
And the earth will (AR)reveal her bloodshed
And will no longer cover those of hers who were killed.

Yahweh Will Deliver Israel

27 In that day (AS)Yahweh will [q]punish [r](AT)Leviathan the fleeing serpent,
With His fierce and great and [s]mighty sword,
Even [t]Leviathan the twisted serpent;
And (AU)He will kill the dragon who lives in the sea.

In that day,
“A [u](AV)vineyard of delight, sing of it!
I, Yahweh, am its keeper;
(AW)I water it every moment.
Lest anyone [v]damage it,
I (AX)keep it night and day.
I have no wrath.
Who would ever give Me (AY)briars and thorns in the battle?
I would step on them, (AZ)I would burn them [w]completely.
Or let him [x](BA)rely on My strong defense,
Let him make peace with Me,
Let him (BB)make peace with Me.”
[y]In the days to come Jacob (BC)will take root,
Israel will (BD)blossom and bud,
And they will fill the [z]whole world with (BE)produce.

Like the striking of Him who has struck them, has (BF)He struck them?
Or like the slaughter of those of His who were killed, [aa]have they been killed?
You contended with them [ab]by driving them away, by (BG)making them forlorn.
With His fierce wind He has expelled them on the day of the (BH)east wind.
Therefore through this, Jacob’s iniquity will be (BI)atoned for;
And this will be the whole fruit of the (BJ)turning away of his sin:
When he makes all the (BK)altar stones like pulverized chalk stones,
When [ac]Asherim and incense altars will not stand.
10 For the fortified city is (BL)isolated,
A [ad]haunt [ae]forlorn and forsaken like the desert;
(BM)There the calf will graze,
And there it will lie down and [af]feed on its twigs.
11 When its (BN)limbs are dry, they are broken off;
Women come and light a fire with them,
For they are not a people of (BO)discernment,
Therefore (BP)their Maker (BQ)will not have compassion on them.
And their Creator will not be gracious to them.

12 And it will be in that day, that Yahweh (BR)will start His threshing from the flowing stream of the [ag](BS)River to the brook of Egypt, and you will be (BT)gathered up one by one, O sons of Israel. 13 And it will be in that day, that a great (BU)trumpet will be blown, and those who were perishing in the land of (BV)Assyria and who were banished in the land of Egypt will come and (BW)worship Yahweh in the holy mountain at Jerusalem.

Christ’s Humility and Exaltation

Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any (A)fellowship of the Spirit, if any [a](B)affection and compassion, (C)fulfill my joy, that (D)you think the same way, by maintaining the same love, being united in spirit, thinking on one purpose, doing nothing [b]from [c](E)selfish ambition or (F)vain glory, but with humility of mind (G)regarding one another as more important than yourselves, (H)not merely looking out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. (I)Have this way of thinking [d]in yourselves which was also in (J)Christ Jesus, who, although (K)existing in the (L)form of God, (M)did not regard equality with God a thing [e]to be grasped, but [f](N)emptied Himself, by taking the form of a (O)slave, by (P)being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, (Q)He humbled Himself by becoming (R)obedient to the point of death, even (S)death [g]on a cross. (T)Therefore, God also (U)highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him (V)the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus (W)every knee will bow, of (X)those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that (Y)every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is [h](Z)Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

12 So then, my beloved, (AA)just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your (AB)salvation with (AC)fear and trembling; 13 for it is (AD)God who is at work in you, both to will and to work (AE)for His good pleasure.

14 Do all things without (AF)grumbling or disputing, 15 so that you will be (AG)blameless and innocent, (AH)children of God without blemish in the midst of a (AI)crooked and perverse generation, among whom you (AJ)shine as [i]lights in the world, 16 holding [j]fast the word of life, so that in (AK)the day of Christ I will have reason to boast because I did not (AL)run in vain nor (AM)labor in vain. 17 But even if I am being (AN)poured out as a drink offering upon (AO)the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with you all. 18 And you also, rejoice in the same way and share your joy with me.

Timothy and Epaphroditus Sent

19 But I hope in the Lord Jesus to (AP)send (AQ)Timothy to you shortly, so that I also may be in good spirits when I learn of your circumstances. 20 For I have no one else (AR)of kindred spirit who will genuinely be concerned about your circumstances. 21 For they all (AS)seek after their own interests, not those of Christ Jesus. 22 But you know (AT)of his proven worth, that (AU)he served with me in the furtherance of the gospel (AV)like a child serving his father. 23 (AW)Therefore I hope to send him immediately, as soon as I [k]evaluate my own circumstances, 24 and (AX)I am confident in the Lord that I myself also will be coming shortly. 25 But I regarded it necessary to send to you (AY)Epaphroditus, my brother and (AZ)fellow worker and (BA)fellow soldier, who is also your [l](BB)messenger and (BC)minister to my need; 26 because he was longing [m]for you all and was distressed because you had heard that he was sick. 27 For indeed he was sick to the point of death, but God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, so that I would not have sorrow upon sorrow. 28 Therefore I have sent him all the more eagerly so that when you see him again you may rejoice and I may be less concerned. 29 (BD)Receive him then in the Lord with all joy, and (BE)hold men like him in high regard 30 because he came close to death [n](BF)for the work of Christ, risking his life to (BG)fulfill [o]what was lacking in your service to me.
