²⁶ I will restore your leaders as in days of old,^(A)
    your rulers as at the beginning.
Afterward you will be called^(B)
    the City of Righteousness,^(C)
    the Faithful City.^(D)”

²⁷ Zion will be delivered with justice,
    her penitent^(E) ones with righteousness.^(F)

⁹ Their stronghold^(A) will fall because of terror;
    at the sight of the battle standard^(B) their commanders will panic,^(C)”
declares the Lord,
    whose fire^(D) is in Zion,
    whose furnace^(E) is in Jerusalem.

“As a lion^(A) growls,
    a great lion over its prey—
and though a whole band of shepherds^(B)
    is called together against it,
it is not frightened by their shouts
    or disturbed by their clamor^(C)—
so the Lord Almighty will come down^(D)
    to do battle on Mount Zion and on its heights.
⁵ Like birds hovering^(E) overhead,
    the Lord Almighty will shield^(F) Jerusalem;
he will shield it and deliver^(G) it,
    he will ‘pass over’^(H) it and will rescue it.”

⁸ “Assyria^(N) will fall by no human sword;
    a sword, not of mortals, will devour^(O) them.
They will flee before the sword
    and their young men will be put to forced labor.^(P)
9 Their stronghold^(Q) will fall because of terror;
    at the sight of the battle standard^(R) their commanders will panic,^(S)”
declares the Lord,
    whose fire^(T) is in Zion,
    whose furnace^(U) is in Jerusalem.

52 Awake, awake,^(A) Zion,
    clothe yourself with strength!^(B)
Put on your garments of splendor,^(C)
    Jerusalem, the holy city.^(D)
The uncircumcised^(E) and defiled^(F)
    will not enter you again.^(G)

⁷ How beautiful on the mountains^(A)
    are the feet of those who bring good news,^(B)
who proclaim peace,^(C)
    who bring good tidings,
    who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion,
    “Your God reigns!”^(D)

¹⁴ The children of your oppressors^(A) will come bowing before you;
    all who despise you will bow down^(B) at your feet
and will call you the City^(C) of the Lord,
    Zion^(D) of the Holy One^(E) of Israel.

¹² For the nation or kingdom that will not serve^(A) you will perish;
    it will be utterly ruined.^(B)

¹³ “The glory of Lebanon^(C) will come to you,
    the juniper, the fir and the cypress together,^(D)
to adorn my sanctuary;^(E)
    and I will glorify the place for my feet.^(F)
14 The children of your oppressors^(G) will come bowing before you;
    all who despise you will bow down^(H) at your feet
and will call you the City^(I) of the Lord,
    Zion^(J) of the Holy One^(K) of Israel.

the mountain^(B) of the Lord’s temple will be established
    as the highest of the mountains;^(C)
it will be exalted^(D) above the hills,
    and all nations will stream to it.^(E)

“Come, let us go^(G) up to the mountain^(H) of the Lord,
    to the temple of the God of Jacob.
He will teach us his ways,
    so that we may walk in his paths.”
The law^(I) will go out from Zion,
    the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.^(J)
4 He will judge^(K) between the nations
    and will settle disputes^(L) for many peoples.
They will beat their swords into plowshares
    and their spears into pruning hooks.^(M)
Nation will not take up sword against nation,^(N)
    nor will they train for war anymore.
