“The former things (A)I declared of old;
    they went out from my mouth, and I announced them;
    then suddenly I did them, and they came to pass.
Because I know that (B)you are obstinate,
    and your neck is an iron sinew
    and your forehead brass,
(C)I declared them to you from of old,
    before they came to pass I announced them to you,
lest you should say, (D)‘My idol did them,
    my carved image and my metal image commanded them.’

“You have heard; now see all this;
    and will you not declare it?
From this time forth (E)I announce to you new things,
    hidden things that you have not known.

I foretold the former things(A) long ago,
    my mouth announced(B) them and I made them known;
    then suddenly(C) I acted, and they came to pass.
For I knew how stubborn(D) you were;
    your neck muscles(E) were iron,
    your forehead(F) was bronze.
Therefore I told you these things long ago;
    before they happened I announced(G) them to you
so that you could not say,
    ‘My images brought them about;(H)
    my wooden image and metal god ordained them.’
You have heard these things; look at them all.
    Will you not admit them?

“From now on I will tell you of new things,(I)
    of hidden things unknown to you.
