2 ‘I will go before you
(A)And[a] make the [b]crooked places straight;
(B)I will break in pieces the gates of bronze
And cut the bars of iron.
3 I will give you the treasures of darkness
And hidden riches of secret places,
(C)That you may know that I, the Lord,
Who (D)call you by your name,
Am the God of Israel.
4 For (E)Jacob My servant’s sake,
And Israel My elect,
I have even called you by your name;
I have named you, though you have not known Me.

2 I will go before you(A)
and will level(B) the mountains[a];
I will break down gates(C) of bronze
and cut through bars of iron.(D)
3 I will give you hidden treasures,(E)
riches stored in secret places,(F)
so that you may know(G) that I am the Lord,
the God of Israel, who summons you by name.(H)
4 For the sake of Jacob my servant,(I)
of Israel my chosen,
I summon you by name
and bestow on you a title of honor,
though you do not acknowledge(J) me.
