God’s Promise concerning His Servant

³⁷ Blessed are those slaves whom the master will find ^(A)on the alert when he comes; truly I say to you, that ^(B)he will ^[a]prepare himself to serve, and have them recline at the table, and he will come up and serve them.

²⁷ For ^(A)who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table? But ^(B)I am among you as the one who serves.

¹³ You call Me ^(A)‘Teacher’ and ^(B)‘Lord’; and ^[a]you are correct, for so I am. ¹⁴ So if I, ^(C)the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. ¹⁵ For I gave you ^(D)an example, so that you also would do just as I did for you. ¹⁶ Truly, truly I say to you, ^(E)a slave is not greater than his master, nor is ^(F)[b]one who is sent greater than the one who sent him.

⁹ For you know ^(A)the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ^(B)though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.

⁷ but ^[a](A)emptied Himself by taking the form of a ^(B)bond-servant and ^[b](C)being born in the likeness of men.
