17 Is it not yet a very little while
    (A)until Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field,
    and the fruitful field shall be regarded as a forest?
18 In that day (B)the deaf shall hear
    (C)the words of a book,
and out of their gloom and darkness
    (D)the eyes of the blind shall see.
19 (E)The meek shall obtain fresh joy in the Lord,
    and the poor among mankind shall exult in the Holy One of Israel.
20 For the ruthless shall come to nothing
    and (F)the scoffer cease,
    and all who watch to do evil shall be cut off,
21 who by a word make a man out to be an offender,
    and (G)lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate,
    and with an empty plea (H)turn aside him who is in the right.

22 Therefore thus says the Lord, (I)who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob:

“Jacob shall no more be ashamed,
    no more shall his face grow pale.
23 For when he sees his children,
    (J)the work of my hands, in his midst,
    they will sanctify my name;
(K)they will sanctify the Holy One of Jacob
    and will stand in awe of the God of Israel.
24 And those (L)who go astray in spirit will come to understanding,
    and those who murmur will accept instruction.”

Blessing after Discipline

17 Is it not yet just a little while
[a]Before Lebanon will be turned into a (A)fertile field,
And the fertile field will be considered as a forest?
18 On that day those who are (B)deaf will hear (C)words of a book,
And out of their gloom and darkness the (D)eyes of those who are blind will see.
19 The (E)afflicted also will increase their joy in the Lord,
And the (F)needy of mankind will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
20 For the (G)ruthless will come to an end and the (H)scorner will be finished,
Indeed (I)all who [b]are intent on doing evil will be eliminated,
21 Who [c]cause a person to be indicted by a word,
And (J)set a trap for the arbitrator at the gate,
And [d](K)defraud the one in the right with [e]meaningless arguments.

22 Therefore this is what the Lord, who redeemed (L)Abraham, says concerning the house of Jacob:

“Jacob (M)will not be ashamed now, nor will his face turn pale now;
23 But when [f]he sees his (N)children, the (O)work of My hands, in his midst,
They will sanctify My name;
Indeed, they will (P)sanctify the Holy One of Jacob,
And will stand in awe of the God of Israel.
24 Those who (Q)err in [g]mind will (R)know [h]the truth,
And those who [i]criticize will [j](S)accept instruction.
