⁵ Woe to Assyria, the rod of my anger—
the staff in their hands is my wrath.

⁵ They are coming from a distant land,
from the farthest horizon—
the Lord and the weapons of his wrath—
to destroy the whole country.^[a]

² The Lord is angry with all the nations,
furious with all their armies.^(A)
He will set them apart for destruction,^(B)
giving them over to slaughter.

¹⁴ You will see, you will rejoice,
and you^[a] will flourish like grass;^(A)
then the Lord’s power will be revealed to his servants,
but he will show his wrath against his enemies.
