⁴ Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called ^[a]Hephzi-bah, and thy land ^[b]Beulah; for Jehovah delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married. ⁵ For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee; and ^[c]as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.

³¹ O generation, see ye the word of Jehovah. Have I been a wilderness unto Israel? or a land of ^[a]thick darkness? wherefore say my people, We are broken loose; we will come no more unto thee? ³² Can a virgin forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number.

3 ^[a]They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man’s, will he return unto her again? will not that land be greatly polluted? But thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; ^[b]yet return again to me, saith Jehovah.

¹⁸ And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the birds of the heavens, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the land, and will make them to lie down safely. ¹⁹ And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in justice, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies. ²⁰ I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness; and thou shalt know Jehovah.
