4 greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy, 5 when I call to remembrance (A)the [a]genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and (B)your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also. 6 Therefore I remind you (C)to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For (D)God has not given us a spirit of fear, (E)but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

8 (F)Therefore do not be ashamed of (G)the testimony of our Lord, nor of me (H)His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God,

6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.(E) 7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid,(F) but gives us power,(G) love and self-discipline. 8 So do not be ashamed(H) of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner.(I) Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel,(J) by the power of God.
