5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

5 You are all children of the light(A) and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 6 So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep,(B) but let us be awake(C) and sober.(D) 7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.(E) 8 But since we belong to the day,(F) let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate,(G) and the hope of salvation(H) as a helmet.(I)
