26 Saul went on one side of the mountain, and David and his men on the other side of the mountain; and David was hurrying to get away from Saul, while Saul and his men (A)were surrounding David and his men to apprehend them. 27 But a messenger came to Saul, saying, “Hurry and come, for the Philistines have launched an attack against the land!” 28 So Saul returned from pursuing David and went to confront the Philistines; therefore they called that place [a]the Rock of Division. 29 [b]And David went up from there and stayed in the strongholds of (B)Engedi.

24 [c]Now (C)when Saul returned from pursuing the Philistines, (D)it was reported to him, saying, “Behold, David is in the wilderness of Engedi.” Then (E)Saul took three thousand chosen men from all Israel and went to search for David and his men in front of the Rocks of the Mountain Goats.

26 Saul(A) was going along one side of the mountain, and David and his men were on the other side, hurrying to get away from Saul. As Saul and his forces were closing in on David and his men to capture them, 27 a messenger came to Saul, saying, “Come quickly! The Philistines are raiding the land.” 28 Then Saul broke off his pursuit of David and went to meet the Philistines. That is why they call this place Sela Hammahlekoth.[a] 29 And David went up from there and lived in the strongholds(B) of En Gedi.[b](C)

24 [c]After Saul returned from pursuing the Philistines, he was told, “David is in the Desert of En Gedi.(D) So Saul took three thousand able young men from all Israel and set out to look(E) for David and his men near the Crags of the Wild Goats.
