Viaje de Pablo a Jerusalén
21 Después de separarnos de ellos, zarpamos y fuimos con rumbo directo a Cos, y al día siguiente a Rodas, y de allí a Pátara. 2 Y hallando un barco que pasaba a Fenicia, nos embarcamos, y zarpamos. 3 Al avistar Chipre, dejándola a mano izquierda, navegamos a Siria, y arribamos a Tiro, porque el barco había de descargar allí. 4 Y hallados los discípulos, nos quedamos allí siete días; y ellos decían a Pablo por el Espíritu, que no subiese a Jerusalén. 5 Cumplidos aquellos días, salimos, acompañándonos todos, con sus mujeres e hijos, hasta fuera de la ciudad; y puestos de rodillas en la playa, oramos. 6 Y abrazándonos los unos a los otros, subimos al barco y ellos se volvieron a sus casas.
7 Y nosotros completamos la navegación, saliendo de Tiro y arribando a Tolemaida; y habiendo saludado a los hermanos, nos quedamos con ellos un día. 8 Al otro día, saliendo Pablo y los que con él estábamos, fuimos a Cesarea; y entrando en casa de Felipe(A) el evangelista, que era uno de los siete, posamos con él. 9 Este tenía cuatro hijas doncellas que profetizaban. 10 Y permaneciendo nosotros allí algunos días, descendió de Judea un profeta llamado Agabo,(B) 11 quien viniendo a vernos, tomó el cinto de Pablo, y atándose los pies y las manos, dijo: Esto dice el Espíritu Santo: Así atarán los judíos en Jerusalén al varón de quien es este cinto, y le entregarán en manos de los gentiles. 12 Al oír esto, le rogamos nosotros y los de aquel lugar, que no subiese a Jerusalén. 13 Entonces Pablo respondió: ¿Qué hacéis llorando y quebrantándome el corazón? Porque yo estoy dispuesto no solo a ser atado, mas aun a morir en Jerusalén por el nombre del Señor Jesús. 14 Y como no le pudimos persuadir, desistimos, diciendo: Hágase la voluntad del Señor.
15 Después de esos días, hechos ya los preparativos, subimos a Jerusalén. 16 Y vinieron también con nosotros de Cesarea algunos de los discípulos, trayendo consigo a uno llamado Mnasón, de Chipre, discípulo antiguo, con quien nos hospedaríamos.
Arresto de Pablo en el templo
17 Cuando llegamos a Jerusalén, los hermanos nos recibieron con gozo. 18 Y al día siguiente Pablo entró con nosotros a ver a Jacobo, y se hallaban reunidos todos los ancianos; 19 a los cuales, después de haberles saludado, les contó una por una las cosas que Dios había hecho entre los gentiles por su ministerio. 20 Cuando ellos lo oyeron, glorificaron a Dios, y le dijeron: Ya ves, hermano, cuántos millares de judíos hay que han creído; y todos son celosos por la ley. 21 Pero se les ha informado en cuanto a ti, que enseñas a todos los judíos que están entre los gentiles a apostatar de Moisés, diciéndoles que no circunciden a sus hijos, ni observen las costumbres. 22 ¿Qué hay, pues? La multitud se reunirá de cierto, porque oirán que has venido. 23 Haz, pues, esto que te decimos: Hay entre nosotros cuatro hombres que tienen obligación de cumplir voto. 24 Tómalos contigo, purifícate con ellos, y paga sus gastos para que se rasuren la cabeza;(C) y todos comprenderán que no hay nada de lo que se les informó acerca de ti, sino que tú también andas ordenadamente, guardando la ley. 25 Pero en cuanto a los gentiles que han creído, nosotros les hemos escrito determinando que no guarden nada de esto; solamente que se abstengan de lo sacrificado a los ídolos, de sangre, de ahogado y de fornicación.(D) 26 Entonces Pablo tomó consigo a aquellos hombres, y al día siguiente, habiéndose purificado con ellos, entró en el templo, para anunciar el cumplimiento de los días de la purificación, cuando había de presentarse la ofrenda por cada uno de ellos.
27 Pero cuando estaban para cumplirse los siete días, unos judíos de Asia, al verle en el templo, alborotaron a toda la multitud y le echaron mano, 28 dando voces: ¡Varones israelitas, ayudad! Este es el hombre que por todas partes enseña a todos contra el pueblo, la ley y este lugar; y además de esto, ha metido a griegos en el templo, y ha profanado este santo lugar. 29 Porque antes habían visto con él en la ciudad a Trófimo,(E) de Éfeso, a quien pensaban que Pablo había metido en el templo. 30 Así que toda la ciudad se conmovió, y se agolpó el pueblo; y apoderándose de Pablo, le arrastraron fuera del templo, e inmediatamente cerraron las puertas. 31 Y procurando ellos matarle, se le avisó al tribuno de la compañía, que toda la ciudad de Jerusalén estaba alborotada. 32 Este, tomando luego soldados y centuriones, corrió a ellos. Y cuando ellos vieron al tribuno y a los soldados, dejaron de golpear a Pablo. 33 Entonces, llegando el tribuno, le prendió y le mandó atar con dos cadenas, y preguntó quién era y qué había hecho. 34 Pero entre la multitud, unos gritaban una cosa, y otros otra; y como no podía entender nada de cierto a causa del alboroto, le mandó llevar a la fortaleza. 35 Al llegar a las gradas, aconteció que era llevado en peso por los soldados a causa de la violencia de la multitud; 36 porque la muchedumbre del pueblo venía detrás, gritando: ¡Muera!
Defensa de Pablo ante el pueblo
37 Cuando comenzaron a meter a Pablo en la fortaleza, dijo al tribuno: ¿Se me permite decirte algo? Y él dijo: ¿Sabes griego? 38 ¿No eres tú aquel egipcio que levantó una sedición antes de estos días, y sacó al desierto los cuatro mil sicarios? 39 Entonces dijo Pablo: Yo de cierto soy hombre judío de Tarso, ciudadano de una ciudad no insignificante de Cilicia; pero te ruego que me permitas hablar al pueblo. 40 Y cuando él se lo permitió, Pablo, estando en pie en las gradas, hizo señal con la mano al pueblo. Y hecho gran silencio, habló en lengua hebrea, diciendo:

21 Y HABIENDO partido de ellos, navegamos y vinimos camino derecho á Coos, y al día siguiente á Rhodas, y de allí á Pátara.

3 Y como avistamos á Cipro, dejándola á mano izquierda, navegamos á Siria, y vinimos á Tiro: porque el barco había de descargar allí su carga.
4 Y nos quedamos allí siete días, hallados los discípulos, los cuales decían á Pablo por Espíritu, que no subiese á Jerusalem.
5 Y cumplidos aquellos días, salimos acompañándonos todos, con sus mujeres é hijos, hasta fuera de la ciudad; y puestos de rodillas en la ribera, oramos.
6 Y abrazándonos los unos á los otros, subimos al barco, y ellos se volvieron á sus casas.
7 Y nosotros, cumplida la navegación, vinimos de Tiro á Tolemaida; y habiendo saludado á los hermanos, nos quedamos con ellos un día.
8 Y otro día, partidos Pablo y los que con él estábamos, vinimos á Cesarea: y entrando en casa de Felipe el evangelista, él cual era uno de los siete, posamos con él.
9 Y éste tenía cuatro hijas, doncellas, que profetizaban.
10 Y parando nosotros allí por muchos días, descendió de Judea un profeta, llamado Agabo;

15 Y después de estos días, apercibidos, subimos á Jerusalem.
16 Y vinieron también con nosotros de Cesarea algunos de los discípulos, trayendo consigo á un Mnasón, Cyprio, discípulo antiguo, con el cual posásemos.
17 Y cuando llegamos á Jerusalem, los hermanos nos recibieron de buena voluntad.
18 Y al día siguiente Pablo entró con nosotros á Jacobo, y todos los ancianos se juntaron;
19 A los cuales, como los hubo saludado, contó por menudo lo que Dios había hecho entre los Gentiles por su ministerio.
20 Y ellos como lo oyeron, glorificaron á Dios, y le dijeron: Ya ves, hermano, cuántos millares de Judíos hay que han creído; y todos son celadores de la ley:
21 Mas fueron informados acerca de ti, que enseñas á apartarse de Moisés á todos los Judíos que están entre los Gentiles, diciéndoles que no han de circuncidar á los hijos, ni andar según la costumbre.
22 ¿Qué hay pues? La multitud se reunirá de cierto: porque oirán que has venido.
23 Haz pues esto que te decimos: Hay entre nosotros cuatro hombres que tienen voto sobre sí:
24 Tomando á éstos contigo, purifícate con ellos, y gasta con ellos, para que rasuren sus cabezas, y todos entiendan que no hay nada de lo que fueron informados acerca de ti; sino que tú también andas guardando la ley.
25 Empero cuanto á los que de los Gentiles han creído, nosotros hemos escrito haberse acordado que no guarden nada de esto; solamente que se abstengan de lo que fue sacrificado á los ídolos, y de sangre, y de ahogado, y de fornicación.
26 Entonces Pablo tomó consigo aquellos hombres, y al día siguiente, habiéndose purificado con ellos, entró en el templo, para anunciar el cumplimiento de los días de la purificación, hasta ser ofrecida ofrenda por cada uno de ellos.
27 Y cuando estaban para acabarse los siete días, unos Judíos de Asia, como le vieron en el templo, alborotaron todo el pueblo y le echaron mano,
28 Dando voces: Varones Israelitas, ayudad: Este es el hombre que por todas partes enseña á todos contra el pueblo, y la ley, y este lugar; y además de esto ha metido Gentiles en el templo, y ha contaminado este lugar Santo.
29 Porque antes habían visto con él en la ciudad á Trófimo, Efesio, al cual pensaban que Pablo había metido en el templo.
30 Así que, toda la ciudad se alborotó, y agolpóse el pueblo; y tomando á Pablo, hiciéronle salir fuera del templo, y luego las puertas fueron cerradas.
31 Y procurando ellos matarle, fué dado aviso al tribuno de la compañía, que toda la ciudad de Jerusalem estaba alborotada;
32 El cual tomando luego soldados y centuriones, corrió á ellos. Y ellos como vieron al tribuno y á los soldados, cesaron de herir á Pablo.
33 Entonces llegando el tribuno, le prendió, y le mandó atar con dos cadenas; y preguntó quién era, y qué había hecho.
34 Y entre la multitud, unos gritaban una cosa, y otros otra: y como no podía entender nada de cierto á causa del alboroto, le mandó llevar á la fortaleza.
35 Y como llegó á las gradas, aconteció que fué llevado de los soldados á causa de la violencia del pueblo;
36 Porque multitud de pueblo venía detrás, gritando: Mátale.
37 Y como comenzaron á meter á Pablo en la fortaleza, dice al tribuno: ¿Me será lícito hablarte algo? Y él dijo: ¿Sabes griego?
38 ¿No eres tú aquel Egipcio que levantaste una sedición antes de estos días, y sacaste al desierto cuatro mil hombres salteadores?
39 Entonces dijo Pablo: Yo de cierto soy hombre Judío, ciudadano de Tarso, ciudad no obscura de Cilicia: empero ruégote que me permitas que hable al pueblo.
40 Y como él se lo permitió, Pablo, estando en pie en las gradas, hizo señal con la mano al pueblo. Y hecho grande silencio, habló en lengua hebrea, diciendo:

21 And it came to pass, that after we were gotten from them, and had launched, we came with a straight course unto Coos, and the day following unto Rhodes, and from thence unto Patara:
2 And finding a ship sailing over unto Phenicia, we went aboard, and set forth.
3 Now when we had discovered Cyprus, we left it on the left hand, and sailed into Syria, and landed at Tyre: for there the ship was to unlade her burden.
4 And finding disciples, we tarried there seven days: who said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem.
5 And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed.
6 And when we had taken our leave one of another, we took ship; and they returned home again.
7 And when we had finished our course from Tyre, we came to Ptolemais, and saluted the brethren, and abode with them one day.
8 And the next day we that were of Paul's company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him.
9 And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.
10 And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus.
11 And when he was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.
12 And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.
13 Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.
14 And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.
15 And after those days we took up our carriages, and went up to Jerusalem.
16 There went with us also certain of the disciples of Caesarea, and brought with them one Mnason of Cyprus, an old disciple, with whom we should lodge.
17 And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly.
18 And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present.
19 And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.
20 And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law:
21 And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.
22 What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come.
23 Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a vow on them;
24 Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law.
25 As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.
26 Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.
27 And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands on him,
28 Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place.
29 (For they had seen before with him in the city Trophimus an Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.)
30 And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took Paul, and drew him out of the temple: and forthwith the doors were shut.
31 And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.
32 Who immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down unto them: and when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they left beating of Paul.
33 Then the chief captain came near, and took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and demanded who he was, and what he had done.
34 And some cried one thing, some another, among the multitude: and when he could not know the certainty for the tumult, he commanded him to be carried into the castle.
35 And when he came upon the stairs, so it was, that he was borne of the soldiers for the violence of the people.
36 For the multitude of the people followed after, crying, Away with him.
37 And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto thee? Who said, Canst thou speak Greek?
38 Art not thou that Egyptian, which before these days madest an uproar, and leddest out into the wilderness four thousand men that were murderers?
39 But Paul said, I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and, I beseech thee, suffer me to speak unto the people.
40 And when he had given him licence, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand unto the people. And when there was made a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,

Paul Sails from Miletus
21 When we had torn ourselves away from them and set sail, we ran a straight course and came to Cos, and on the next day to Rhodes, and from there to Patara; 2 and after finding a ship crossing over to Phoenicia, we went on board and set sail. 3 After we came in sight of Cyprus, leaving it on our left (port side), we sailed on to Syria and put in at Tyre; for there the ship was to unload her cargo. 4 After looking up the disciples [in Tyre], we stayed there [with them] seven days; and they kept telling Paul through the [Holy] Spirit [a]not to set foot in Jerusalem. 5 When our days there came to an end, we left and proceeded on our journey, while all of the disciples, with their wives and children, escorted us on our way until we were outside the city. After kneeling down on the beach and praying, we told one another goodbye. 6 Then we boarded the ship, and they returned to their homes.
7 When we had completed the voyage from Tyre, we landed [twenty miles to the south] at Ptolemais, and after greeting the [b]believers, we stayed with them for one day. 8 On the next day we left and came to Caesarea, and we went to the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven [deacons], and stayed with him.(A) 9 He had four virgin daughters who had the gift of prophecy. 10 As we were staying there for some time, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. 11 And coming to [see] us, he took Paul’s [wide] [c]band (belt, sash) and bound his own feet and hands, and said, “This is what the Holy Spirit says: ‘In this same way the Jews in Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this band, and they will hand him over to the Gentiles (pagans).’” 12 Now when we had heard this, both we and the local residents began pleading with Paul trying to persuade him not to go up to Jerusalem. 13 Then Paul replied, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart [like this]? For I am ready not only to be bound and imprisoned, but even to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” 14 And since he would not be dissuaded, we stopped pleading and fell silent, saying, “The Lord’s will be done!”

15 After this we got ready and started on our way up to Jerusalem. 16 Some of the disciples from Caesarea also came with us, taking us to [the house of] Mnason, a man from Cyprus, a disciple of long standing with whom we were to lodge.
17 When we arrived in Jerusalem, the [d]brothers and sisters welcomed us gladly. 18 On the next day Paul went with us to [see] [e]James, and all the elders of the church were present. 19 After greeting them, Paul began to give a detailed account of the things that God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry. 20 And when they heard it, they began glorifying and praising God; and they said to him, “You see, brother, how many thousands of believers there are among the Jews, and they are all enthusiastic supporters of the Law [of Moses]. 21 Now they have been told about you, that you are teaching all the Jews who are living among the Gentiles to turn away from [the Law of] Moses, advising them not to circumcise their children or to live according to the [Mosaic] customs. 22 What then should be done? They will certainly hear that you have arrived. 23 Therefore do just what we tell you. We have four men who have taken a vow; 24 take these men and purify yourself along with them, and pay their expenses [for the temple offerings] so that they may shave their heads. Then everyone will know that there is nothing to the things they have been told about you, but that you yourself also follow and keep the Law. 25 But with regard to the Gentiles who have believed [in Christ], we have sent them a letter with our decision that they should abstain from meat sacrificed to idols and from [consuming] blood and from [the meat of] what has been strangled and from sexual immorality.” 26 Then Paul took the [four] men, and the next day he purified himself along with them [by submitting to the ritual]. He went into the temple to give notice of [the time] when the days of purification [ending each vow] would be fulfilled and the usual offering could be presented on behalf of each one.

27 When the seven days [required to complete the ritual] were almost over, [some] Jews from [the province of] Asia [Minor], caught sight of him in the temple, and began to stir up the crowd, and they seized him, 28 shouting, “Men of Israel, help us! This is the man who teaches all men everywhere against our people and the Law and this place. And besides, he has brought Greeks into the temple and has defiled this holy place.” 29 For they had previously seen Trophimus the Ephesian in the city with Paul, and they assumed that he had brought the man into the temple [beyond the court of the Gentiles]. 30 Then the whole city was provoked and confused, and the people rushed together. They seized Paul and dragged him out of the temple, and immediately the gates were closed. 31 Now while they were trying to kill him, word came to the commander of the [Roman] garrison that all Jerusalem was in a state of upheaval. 32 So he immediately took soldiers and centurions and ran down among them. When the people saw the commander and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul. 33 Then the commander came up and arrested Paul, and ordered that he be bound with two chains. Then he asked who he was and what he had done. 34 But some in the crowd were shouting one thing and others something else; and since he could not determine the facts because of the uproar, he ordered that Paul be taken to the barracks [in the tower of Antonia]. 35 When Paul got to the steps, he was carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the mob; 36 for the majority of the people kept following them, shouting, “Away with him! [Kill him!]”
37 Just as Paul was about to be taken into the barracks, he asked the commander, “May I say something to you?” And the man replied, “Do you know Greek? 38 Then you are not [as I assumed] the Egyptian who [f]some time ago stirred up a rebellion and led those 4,000 men of the Assassins out into the wilderness?” 39 Paul said, “I am a Jew from [g]Tarsus in Cilicia (Mersin Province, Turkey), a citizen of no insignificant city; and I beg you, allow me to speak to the people.” 40 When the commander had given him permission, Paul, standing on the steps, gestured with his hand to the people; and when there was a great hush, he spoke to them in the Hebrew dialect (Jewish Aramaic), saying,

- Acts 21:4 Clearly the disciples felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to tell Paul not to go to Jerusalem. But a question remains as to whether the Spirit was actually forbidding Paul to go, or only preparing him for what he would have to suffer in Jerusalem (cf v 11). Either explanation is possible, but many Bible scholars prefer the latter.

- Acts 21:11 This was not a belt like men wear today, but a band (sash, girdle), about six inches wide, usually made of leather, worn on top of the outer garment. It was fastened around the midsection of the body and served as a kind of pocket or pouch to carry personal items such as a dagger, money or other necessary things.

7 Terminado el viaje desde Tiro(M), llegamos a Tolemaida, y después de saludar a los hermanos(N), nos quedamos con ellos un día. 8 Al día siguiente partimos y llegamos a Cesarea(O), y entrando en la casa de Felipe, el evangelista(P), que era uno de los siete(Q), nos quedamos con él. 9 Este tenía cuatro hijas doncellas que profetizaban(R). 10 Y deteniéndonos allí varios días, descendió de Judea cierto profeta llamado Agabo(S), 11 quien vino[d] a vernos, y tomando el cinto de Pablo(T), se ató las manos y los pies, y dijo: Así dice el Espíritu Santo(U): «Así atarán(V) los judíos en Jerusalén al dueño de este cinto, y lo entregarán en manos de los gentiles(W)». 12 Al escuchar esto, tanto nosotros como los que vivían allí le rogábamos que no subiera a Jerusalén(X). 13 Entonces Pablo respondió: ¿Qué hacéis, llorando y quebrantándome el corazón? Porque listo estoy no solo a ser atado, sino también a morir en Jerusalén por el nombre del Señor Jesús(Y). 14 Como no se dejaba persuadir, nos callamos, diciéndonos: Que se haga la voluntad del Señor(Z).
15 Después de estos días nos preparamos y comenzamos a subir hacia Jerusalén(AA). 16 Y nos acompañaron también algunos de los discípulos(AB) de Cesarea(AC), quienes nos condujeron a Mnasón, de Chipre(AD), un antiguo(AE) discípulo con quien deberíamos hospedarnos.

17 Cuando llegamos a Jerusalén, los hermanos(AF) nos recibieron con regocijo. 18 Y al día siguiente Pablo fue[e] con nosotros a ver a Jacobo[f](AG), y todos los ancianos(AH) estaban presentes. 19 Y después de saludarlos, comenzó a referirles una por una las cosas que Dios había hecho entre los gentiles(AI) mediante su ministerio(AJ). 20 Y ellos, cuando lo oyeron, glorificaban a Dios(AK) y le dijeron: Hermano, ya ves cuántos miles[g] hay entre los judíos que han creído, y todos son celosos de la ley(AL); 21 y se les ha contado acerca de ti, que enseñas a todos los judíos entre los gentiles que se aparten de Moisés(AM), diciéndoles que no circunciden(AN) a sus hijos ni observen[h] las tradiciones(AO). 22 Entonces, ¿qué es lo que se debe hacer? Porque sin duda la multitud se reunirá[i] pues oirán que has venido. 23 Por tanto, haz esto que te decimos: Tenemos cuatro hombres que han hecho un voto[j](AP); 24 tómalos y purifícate junto con ellos(AQ), y paga sus gastos[k] para que se rasuren la cabeza(AR); y todos sabrán que no hay nada cierto en lo que se les ha dicho acerca de ti, sino que tú también vives[l] ordenadamente, acatando la ley. 25 Pero en cuanto a los gentiles que han creído, nosotros les hemos escrito, habiendo decidido que deben abstenerse de lo sacrificado a los ídolos, de sangre, de lo estrangulado y de fornicación(AS). 26 Entonces Pablo tomó consigo a los hombres, y al día siguiente, purificándose[m] junto con ellos(AT), fue al templo, notificando de la terminación de los días de purificación(AU), hasta que el sacrificio se ofreciera por cada uno de ellos.
El tumulto en el templo
27 Cuando estaban para cumplirse los siete días(AV), los judíos(AW) de Asia[n](AX), al verlo en el templo, comenzaron a incitar a todo el pueblo, y le echaron mano, 28 gritando: ¡Israelitas[o], ayudadnos! Este es el hombre que enseña[p] a todos, por todas partes, contra nuestro pueblo, la ley y este lugar(AY); además, incluso ha traído griegos al templo, y ha profanado este lugar santo(AZ). 29 Pues anteriormente habían visto a Trófimo(BA) el efesio(BB) con él en la ciudad, y pensaban que Pablo lo había traído al templo. 30 Se alborotó toda la ciudad, y llegó el pueblo corriendo de todas partes[q]; apoderándose de Pablo lo arrastraron fuera del templo(BC), y al instante cerraron las puertas. 31 Mientras procuraban matarlo, llegó aviso al comandante[r] de la compañía[s] romana(BD) que toda Jerusalén estaba en confusión. 32 Inmediatamente tomó consigo algunos soldados y centuriones, y corrió hacia ellos; cuando vieron al comandante y a los soldados, dejaron de golpear a Pablo(BE). 33 Entonces el comandante llegó y lo prendió, y ordenó que lo ataran(BF) con dos cadenas(BG); y preguntaba quién era y qué había hecho. 34 Pero entre la muchedumbre unos gritaban una cosa y otros otra(BH), y como él no pudo averiguar con certeza los hechos, debido al tumulto, ordenó que lo llevaran al cuartel(BI). 35 Cuando llegó a las gradas(BJ), sucedió que los soldados tuvieron que cargarlo por causa de la violencia de la turba[t]; 36 porque la multitud del pueblo lo seguía, gritando: ¡Muera(BK)!

37 Cuando estaban para meter a Pablo en el cuartel(BL), dijo al comandante: ¿Puedo decirte algo? Y él dijo*: ¿Sabes griego? 38 ¿Entonces tú no eres el egipcio que hace tiempo[u] levantó una revuelta, y sacó los cuatro mil hombres(BM) de los asesinos[v] al desierto(BN)? 39 Pablo respondió: Yo soy judío de Tarso(BO) de Cilicia(BP), ciudadano de una ciudad no sin importancia; te suplico que me permitas hablar al pueblo. 40 Cuando el comandante le concedió el permiso, Pablo, de pie sobre las gradas(BQ), hizo señal al pueblo con su mano(BR), y cuando hubo[w] gran silencio, les habló en el idioma hebreo[x](BS), diciendo:
