Spiritual Immaturity

¹² For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the ^[a]oracles of God; and you have come to need ^(A)milk and not solid food. ¹³ For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is ^(B)a babe. ¹⁴ But solid food belongs to those who are ^[b]of full age, that is, those who by reason of ^[c]use have their senses exercised ^(C)to discern both good and evil.

The Peril of Not Progressing

6 Therefore, ^(D)leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to ^[d]perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from ^(E)dead works and of faith toward God,

¹³ till we all come to the unity of the faith ^(A)and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to ^(B)a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; ¹⁴ that we should no longer be ^(C)children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of ^(D)deceitful plotting, ¹⁵ but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the ^(E)head—Christ—

^8 (A)For by grace you have been saved ^(B)through faith, and that not of yourselves; ^(C)it is the gift of God, ⁹ not of ^(D)works, lest anyone should ^(E)boast. ¹⁰ For we are ^(F)His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

¹⁸ And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ^(A)“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

²² Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we ^(A)not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ ²³ And ^(B)then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; ^(C)depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

²⁴ Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, ²⁵ and ^[a]did not know her till she had brought forth ^(A)her^[b] firstborn Son. And he called His name Jesus.

^24 (A)whom God raised up, having ^[a]loosed the ^[b]pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.

Cain Murders Abel^(A)

4 Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore ^[a]Cain, and said, “I have acquired a man from the Lord.”

¹⁴ I am the good shepherd; and ^(A)I know My sheep, and ^(B)am known by My own. ^15 (C)As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; ^(D)and I lay down My life for the sheep.
