Jesus, the Example

12 Therefore, since we also have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let’s ^(A)rid ourselves of every obstacle and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s ^(B)run with ^(C)endurance the race that is set before us, ² looking only at Jesus, the ^[a](D)originator and perfecter of the faith, who for the joy set before Him ^(E)endured the cross, ^(F)despising the shame, and has ^(G)sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

³ For ^(H)consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary ^[b](I)and lose heart.

^12 (A)The night is almost gone, and ^(B)the day is near. Therefore let’s rid ourselves of ^(C)the deeds of darkness and put on ^(D)the armor of light. ¹³ Let’s ^[a](E)behave properly as in the day, ^(F)not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and debauchery, not in strife and jealousy. ¹⁴ But ^(G)put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh ^(H)in regard to its lusts.

²² that, in reference to your former way of life, you are to ^(A)rid yourselves of the ^(B)old ^[a]self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the ^(C)lusts of deceit, ²³ and that you are to be ^(D)renewed in the spirit of your minds, ²⁴ and to ^(E)put on the ^(F)new ^[b]self, which ^[c](G)in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.
